Phillies Preview

The Philadelphia Phillies are a game above .500 at home and are clinging to a 1.5 game lead over San Diego for the final National League Wild Card spot. During Saturday’s home loss, Philadelphia batters went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base. Bryce Harper and Trea Turner each went deep in a losing effort for the Phillies, who fell to 62-56 overall.

Philadelphia skipper Don Mattingly will turn to twenty-eighty year old southpaw Jesus Luzardo (10-5 3.36 ERA) on Sunday. Last time out, Luzardo fired eight shutout frames and fanned seven batters during a 5-0 home victory versus Washington. Luzardo ranks sixth in the majors with 164 strikeouts this season.
