AL East Division foes will square off on Monday night, when the Toronto Blue Jays invade Steinbrenner Field to take on the Tampa Bay Rays. On Sunday, DH George Springer homered and doubled twice to power Toronto to an 11-2 home victory versus Baltimore.

Thirty-one year old righty Jose Berrios (9-5 3.99 ERA) will take the mound for the Blue Jays in this matchup. In his last start, Berrios (5.1 IP) gave up five hits and two runs during a 3-2 home loss versus Houston.

Rays Preview

The Tampa Bay Rays have dropped seven of their previous ten games and are on the verge of being eliminated from postseason contention. On Sunday, Tampa Bay batters struck out 13 times and left eight men on base during a 4-3 road loss against the Chicago Cubs. Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero each went deep in a losing effort for the Rays (73-76), who fell to 35-40 at home.

Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash will give the nod to right-hander Ryan Pepiot (11-10 3.59 ERA) on Monday. The Rays have won Pepiot’s previous three starts and he has not allowed a run over his last 15 innings.
