Twenty-five year old southpaw Mitchell Parker (8-16 5.85 ERA) will head to the hill for the Nationals in this contest. Last time out, Parker (5 IP) was tagged for ten hits and six runs during an 11-3 home loss versus Atlanta.

Braves Preview

The Atlanta Braves are riding an eight-game winning streak, but will miss the postseason for the first time since 2017. On Sunday, Atlanta SP Spencer Strider (7-13) tossed five scoreless innings and struck out six batters during a 6-2 road triumph against Detroit. OF Ronald Acuna Jr. went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for the Braves (73-83), who improved to 37-44 on the road.

The Braves will counter with two-time Cy Young Award winner Chris Sale (5-5 2.35 ERA) in the series opener. In his last start, Sale fired eight shutout frames and fanned nine batters during a 5-0 road victory against Washington.
