Last night, All-Star SS C.J. Abrams had a two-run single and Washington managed just four hits during an 8-3 road loss.

Twenty-seven year old righty Cade Cavalli (8-4 3.55 ERA) will take the mound for the Nationals in this matchup. Washington has emerged victorious in each of Cavalli’s previous three starts and he has allowed five runs across his last 18 frames.

Braves Preview

The Atlanta Braves are riding a four-game winning streak and own an eight-game cushion over Philadelphia for first place. During Saturday’s home victory, four-time All-Star Matt Olson crushed his 30th long ball and scored a pair of runs to spark Atlanta’s offense. Ronald Acuna Jr. and Dominic Smith also went deep for the Braves (66-45), who moved to 35-20 at home.

Atlanta skipper Walt Weiss has not announced a starting pitcher for Sunday. The Braves currently rank sixth in the majors with a 3.69 ERA and a solid 1.25 WHIP. Atlanta’s starters have notched 36 quality starts and have failed to provide enough length for much of the year.
