Last night, Keibert Ruiz went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored to spark Washington to an 8-1 road victory against Boston.

Twenty-seven year old southpaw Andrew Alvarez (1-1 3.44 ERA) will make his sixth start of the year for the Nationals. Alvarez, who has also made five relief appearances, has allowed just two home runs and retired 42 batters by strikes across 36 plus innings.

Red Sox Preview

The Boston Red Sox have won six of their last ten games and are trying to climb out of the AL East Division basement. During Tuesday’s home loss, Boston batters managed just one hit and struck out 13 times in seven innings against Washington SP Cade Cavalli. 2B Anthony Seigler doubled and scored the lone run for the Red Sox (37-47), who dropped to a disappointing 17-26 at home.

The Red Sox will counter with twenty-three year old lefty Payton Tolle (4-5 2.78 ERA) in the series finale. Last time out, Tolle fired seven shutout frames and fanned seven batters during a 6-1 home victory versus New York.
