The Friday MLB schedule will get underway with a matinee between the Washington Nationals and the Chicago Cubs from historic Wrigley Field. Be ready for the baseball season with all of our MLB predictions. The Nationals (56-83) are fresh off a three-game sweep of visiting Miami and outscored them by a 17-7 margin. On Wednesday, Washington SS Nasim Nunez hit his first two career major league home runs and had four RBIs during a 10-5 victory.

Twenty-eight year old righty Jake Irvin (8-10 5.42 ERA) has struggled in the second half of the season. In his last start, Irvin (6 IP) gave up five hits and four runs during a 4-1 home loss versus Tampa Bay.

Cubs Preview

The Chicago Cubs have split their previous ten games and are sitting comfortably atop the NL Wild Card standings. On Wednesday, Chicago batters managed just four hits and were retired by strikes nine times during a 5-1 home loss versus Atlanta. Rookie SP Cade Horton fanned six batters across five shutout frames and did not factor in the decision for the Cubs (80-60), who fell to 43-26 at home.

Twenty-eight year old righty Javier Assad (1-1 4.05 ERA) will make his fifth start of the year for the Cubs. Last time out, Assad (6 IP) allowed seven hits and allowed three runs during a 4-3 road victory against Colorado.
