Twenty-nine year old righty Jake Irvin (1-4 5.22 ERA) will take the mound for the Nationals in this matchup. In his last start, Irvin (5 IP) gave up eight hits and four runs during a 7-5 home victory versus Minnesota.

Reds Preview

The Cincinnati Reds have dropped nine of their previous 11 games and are trying to climb out of the NL Central Division cellar. During Tuesday’s home loss, Cincinnati batters went 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base. DH Sal Stewart collected three hits and scored twice for the Reds (22-20), who fell to 12-10 at home.

Twenty-eight year old southpaw Nick Lodolo (0-1 6.75 ERA) will make his second start of the year for the Reds. Lodolo, who missed the first month with a blister injury, surrendered two long balls during a 10-0 home loss versus Houston in his season debut.
