Boston Celtics vs Houston Rockets Picks and Prediction for Monday November 2 2026
Boston is playing good basketball. So is Houston.
But here’s what makes me lean toward the Rockets. Boston has to play Orlando on Sunday afternoon, then fly to Houston for Monday night. Meanwhile, the Rockets get to stay home and prepare.
That might not sound like a big deal in November. Trust me, it matters when you’re facing a team that scores 121 points a game and attacks the offensive glass.
This is one of the better games on Monday’s schedule, and I’m taking Houston.

The Celtics visit Toyota Center in Houston on Monday, November 2, with tipoff at 8:30 PM ET. Boston plays Orlando on Sunday, so this will be the second night of a back-to-back. Houston is coming off Saturday’s 119-98 win over Oklahoma City. I couldn’t verify a current sportsbook spread or total, so I’m taking Houston on the moneyline and using a target total. Boston Celtics Have Been Scoring Plenty
Boston enters Sunday’s game at Orlando with a 4-1 record. The Celtics have won four straight, including a 125-111 victory over Chicago Friday. They’ve also beaten Brooklyn twice during the opening stretch. That’s a good start, and I’m not dismissing it just because Houston has the rest advantage.
The Celtics are averaging 120.8 points and allowing 111.6. Their offensive rating is above 115 points per 100 possessions, and they’ve been shooting 37.4 percent from three. That’s the part Houston has to worry about. Boston can spread the floor, move the ball and score quickly when the outside shots are falling. Defensively, the Celtics have been forcing turnovers on more than 17 percent of opposing possessions, so the Rockets need to take care of the ball.
Boston has been getting strong scoring from its perimeter players, and the offense has looked comfortable during the winning streak. The injury report is relatively short, with Devin Carter listed out because of illness. That’s an advantage compared with some teams dealing with major rotation absences. But playing Sunday before traveling to Houston is still a concern. The Celtics need their legs under them, especially if this turns into a fast-paced game.
Houston Rockets Have Been Excellent at Home
Houston is 6-1, including 3-0 at home. The Rockets lost their first game of the season Friday in Dallas, 116-111, then came back Saturday and beat Oklahoma City 119-98. That’s a pretty good response. Houston has been winning with offense, but the defense has been better than people might realize.
The Rockets average 121 points and allow 110. Their offensive rating is around 118 points per 100 possessions, and they’re collecting more than 33 percent of available offensive rebounds. That’s an outstanding number. It means Houston is getting a lot of second chances, and that’s dangerous against a Boston team playing on consecutive nights. The Rockets have also been shooting nearly 38 percent from three, so they aren’t depending entirely on scoring inside.
Alperen Sengun has been dealing with back soreness, and his availability matters because of what he does as a scorer and passer. Reed Sheppard also has a back issue, while Steven Adams is out with a calf strain. Those injuries affect Houston’s depth, especially in the frontcourt. But the Rockets have still been getting enough production from their remaining players to score consistently. If Sengun is available, I like Houston’s chances even more.
Boston Celtics vs Houston Rockets Picks and Prediction
Houston Rockets Moneyline
I’m taking Houston. Boston can absolutely win this game if its outside shooting gets going. The Celtics have been averaging nearly 121 points, and that’s not an offense you want to underestimate. But Houston has been just as productive offensively, has the better rebounding numbers and gets Boston on the second night of a back-to-back. That’s a tough setup for the visitors. I think the Rockets get enough second-chance points to make the difference late.
Over 229.5 Points — Target Total
I’ll look Over 229.5 if that’s the number available. Both teams are averaging about 121 points, and both have been shooting well from outside. Houston’s offensive rebounding gives it extra opportunities, while Boston has been effective creating points off turnovers. The concern is fatigue slowing Boston’s offense, especially after Sunday’s game in Orlando. Houston could also struggle inside if Sengun is unavailable. But I think there’s enough scoring talent here for both teams to get into the 110s. Something like Houston 121-115 gets us Over.
Final Picks: Houston Rockets Moneyline and Over 229.5 Points (target total)
