Brooklyn Nets Have A Tough Road Ahead
Brooklyn is 0-1 after losing by seven to Charlotte. The Nets scored 103 points, and while that’s not a terrible number, it leaves very little room for mistakes if the defense isn’t making enough stops.
The biggest concern is whether Brooklyn can generate efficient offense against a Cleveland team with considerably more proven talent. The Nets will need to avoid long stretches of missed jumpers and make the Cavaliers defend for the entire possession. They can’t afford to turn this into a game where Cleveland gets easy baskets and starts pulling away before halftime.

Brooklyn’s young rotation is going to have nights when it looks promising and nights when the shots don’t fall. That’s part of the deal. Saturday is a particularly tough test because Cleveland has enough offensive options to punish defensive mistakes. The Nets need a balanced effort, not one scorer trying to do everything.

Cleveland entered Thursday still looking for its first win after dropping its opener. The Cavaliers’ schedule hasn’t given them much time to settle in, but Saturday’s home game presents a more favorable matchup than they’ve had against stronger Eastern Conference competition.
The Cavaliers should be able to put pressure on Brooklyn in the paint and force the Nets to defend multiple actions on the same possession. Cleveland doesn’t need a perfect shooting night to win this game. It needs to defend, rebound, and avoid giving Brooklyn easy points in transition.
The other issue is workload. Cleveland played Philadelphia on Thursday, giving the Cavaliers a day between games. Brooklyn has had more rest, but the Cavaliers have the stronger roster on paper. That’s usually where I start when a rebuilding club visits a team with serious playoff expectations.

The danger is a lopsided game where the Cavaliers score 125 by themselves. I’d rather see the posted number before calling this a bet. My preliminary score is Cleveland 117, Brooklyn 104.
