The Bulls (1-0) missed the playoffs last season and drastically increased their three-point shooting volume for head coach Billy Donovan. On Wednesday, Chicago raced out to a 16-point lead after one quarter and held on for a 115-111 home victory versus Detroit.

Chicago C Nikola Vucevic tallied a game-high 28 points on 11-for-18 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds. Second year pro Matas Buzelis chipped in 21 points (7-12 FG) and six boards. Josh Giddey added 19 points, 11 assists, and five rebounds for the Bulls.

Magic Preview

The Orlando Magic ranked second in the league in defensive efficiency last season and are expected to ascend to contender status in the Eastern Conference hierarchy. The Magic (1-1) acquired sharp-shooting G Desmond Bane in the offseason to boost a three-point attack that ranked last in the NBA. On Friday, Orlando was outscored by 12 points over the final 12 minutes of a 111-107 home loss versus Atlanta.

Orlando F Franz Wagner led all scorers with 27 points on 10-for-17 shooting and pulled down six boards. Desmond Bane missed seven of eight long distance attempts and finished with 15 points. Tristan da Silva added 15 points and six rebounds off the bench for the Magic, who missed 13 of 37 free-throw attempts.
