Cavaliers Preview

In the first game of a Wednesday night NBA on ESPN doubleheader, the Cleveland Cavaliers will square off against the New York Knicks from Madison Square Garden. The Cavaliers (64-18) are coming off a historically efficient offensive season, but have been eliminated in the Eastern Conference semifinals in consecutive years. Cleveland G Donovan Mitchell has made six straight All-Star Game appearances, but has yet to advance to the conference finals.

Talented F Evan Mobley (18.5 ppg) shot 56 percent from the field a season ago and is the key to unlocking Cleveland’s championship potential. Newly acquired Lonzo Ball will run the second unit and former number one overall draft pick De’Andre Hunter is a key wing off the bench.

Knicks Preview

The New York Knicks have reached the second round of the playoffs in each of the last three years and are looking to win their first NBA title since 1973. The Knicks (51-31) ranked fifth during the regular season in offensive efficiency, but their defense was exposed in the Eastern Conference Finals loss versus Indiana. New York fired head coach Tom Thibodeau and hired Mike Brown to take the team to the next level.

All-Star G Jalen Brunson (26 ppg) is the unquestioned leader of the Knicks and F/C Karl-Anthony Towns has reportedly improved his physical conditioning. New York bolstered their bench by acquiring Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele in the offseason.
