In the first game of a Friday night NBA on ESPN doubleheader, the Dallas Mavericks will battle the Boston Celtics from TD Garden. For other NBA action see our NBA Predictions. The Mavericks (21-41) are looking to snap a five-game losing streak and have fallen out of contention in the Western Conference standings. Last night, Dallas was unable to protect a four point lead with 37 seconds remaining during a 115-114 road loss against Orlando.

Klay Thompson nailed 7-for-12 from the three-point line and led all scorers with 24 points in 26 minutes off the Dallas bench. Veteran G/F Khris Middleton added 19 points (7-15 FG) and seven assists. Number one overall draft pick Cooper Flagg and P.J. Washington scored 18 points each for the Mavericks.

Celtics Preview

The Boston Celtics have won seven of their last ten games and are sitting in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. The Celtics (41-21) rank second in the league in offensive efficiency and are scoring a shade below 115 points per contest. On Wednesday, Boston trailed by 21 points at halftime and shot an ice cold 38 percent from the field during an ugly 118-89 home loss versus Charlotte.

Boston G Derrick White led all scorers with 29 points on 9-for-17 shooting in 29 minutes of action. All-Star G Jaylen Brown scored 20 points (7-19 FG) to go along with 11 rebounds and seven assists. Payton Pritchard (16.8 ppg) failed to score in 24 minutes off the bench for the Celtics, who fell to 20-10 at home.
