Detroit Is Getting Results on Both Ends
Detroit is 3-0 after beating Miami 128-111 and Philadelphia 106-93 on consecutive outings. That’s two very different wins. The Pistons ran up the score against Miami, then defended their way through a lower-scoring contest in Philadelphia.
The 93 points allowed to the 76ers matter more to me than the unbeaten record. Detroit showed it can win without needing an exceptional shooting night. That gives the Pistons a fighting chance in New York, where games can become physical and possessions get expensive.

The concern is travel and an early-season schedule that hasn’t yet established how sustainable Detroit’s efficiency will be. The Pistons must take care of the ball and keep the Knicks off the offensive glass.
New York Needs an Answer Quickly
The Knicks are 0-3 after losing 107-103 at Boston and 111-102 at home to Orlando. They’ve had chances to win, but the offense hasn’t consistently finished games.
New York’s defensive effort hasn’t been disastrous. Allowing 107 and 111 in those two games is workable in today’s NBA. The problem is scoring only 103 and 102. That puts tremendous pressure on every defensive possession.
The Garden should provide energy, and desperation can sharpen a team. But the Knicks need better shot creation and more second-chance points. Detroit won’t make it easy if its defense resembles what we saw in Philadelphia.

Detroit Pistons +4.5 or Better — Target
Give me Detroit with at least 4.5 points. The Pistons are defending, they’re winning, and New York has yet to find its offensive rhythm. I respect the Knicks at home, and a strong rebounding performance could flip this matchup. But Detroit has shown enough defensive discipline to stay within a couple of possessions.
Under 225.5 or Higher — Target
I like the under at 225.5 or higher. New York scored 103 and 102 in its last two games, while Detroit just held Philadelphia to 93. The Knicks may try to slow the pace and grind out their first victory. Detroit can score, but it doesn’t have to play fast to compete. I’m thinking 110-107 Detroit.
