Houston Rockets vs Atlanta Hawks Picks and Predictions for Saturday October 24 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/24/2026, 01:00 AM ET

Houston scored 128 in its opener. Atlanta scored 132. If somebody tells you this has to be a defensive struggle, ask them what they’ve been drinking. The Rockets beat Dallas 128-110 Wednesday. The Hawks went to Orlando and won 132-125. Both clubs got the kind of opening-night result that makes everybody feel good, although neither opponent made life especially difficult defensively.

Houston visits Atlanta at State Farm Arena on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 PM ET on NBA League Pass. A confirmed Saturday spread and total weren’t available when this article was prepared. Check our free NBA picks for more predictions.

Houston Rockets Have Plenty Of Offensive Options

Houston opened 1-0 with an 18-point win over Dallas. The Rockets scored 128, and the Mavericks never recovered after getting outscored badly in the second quarter. It was the kind of performance Houston wanted to see after an offseason of high expectations.

Scoring 128 is encouraging, but Atlanta will present a different problem. The Hawks scored 132 themselves against Orlando. Houston has to defend without losing its offensive rhythm, and that can be difficult against a team willing to run after missed shots. The Rockets can’t spend the evening trading baskets and assume they’ll win just because they have more size.

Houston also plays San Antonio on Friday, so Saturday will be the second game in two nights. That could affect the rotation and shooting legs, particularly late in the fourth quarter. The Rockets’ offensive depth gives them options, but the workload is worth watching.

Atlanta Hawks Can Make A Game Move Quickly

Atlanta is 1-0 after beating Orlando 132-125. The Hawks won on the road and showed they can score in bunches. Giving up 125 wasn’t ideal, but when you score 132, nobody spends much time complaining about the defense afterward.

The Hawks’ biggest advantage could be their ability to turn a few stops into a quick scoring run. Houston will try to use its size and strength, while Atlanta wants enough possessions for its perimeter offense to matter. Whoever controls the tempo is going to have a lot to say about the result.

Atlanta plays Charlotte on Friday, making this a back-to-back for both teams. That takes away some of the usual rest advantage for the home club. It also raises the possibility of defensive mistakes and tired legs. The Friday results and injury reports will tell us more about which rotation is in better shape.

Houston Rockets vs Atlanta Hawks Picks and Predictions

Atlanta Hawks Moneyline — Price Pending

I’ll lean Atlanta at home. Houston is capable of winning, and the Rockets have the size to create problems. But the Hawks already showed they can score against a quality opponent, and State Farm Arena should give them a lift. With both clubs playing Friday, I’d want a fair moneyline rather than laying a heavy price.

Over — Total Pending

The over is the more interesting argument. Houston scored 128 Wednesday and Atlanta scored 132. Those numbers won’t repeat automatically, but both teams have enough offense to make this entertaining. The concern is the back-to-back schedule. Tired shooters can turn a promising over into a long evening. I’ll look for a total in the upper 220s before deciding whether there’s value. Preliminary score: Atlanta 119, Houston 116.

Final Picks: Atlanta Hawks Moneyline (price pending) and Over (total pending)

This preview was completed October 23, 2026, before both teams’ Friday games. Lines, injuries, and rotations may change.
