Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks Picks and Predictions for Friday October 30 2026
Houston just went into Milwaukee and won by 32. Dallas turned around and beat Oklahoma City by 24. So both teams are feeling pretty good about themselves heading into Friday. But here’s where I separate them. The Rockets have been winning every night. Dallas has had a couple of good games mixed in with some pretty rough ones. I trust Houston a little more, even on the road.
The Rockets visit American Airlines Center in Dallas on Friday, October 30, with tipoff at 8:00 PM ET. Houston is favored by 4.5 points, with a total of 226.5. These teams already met in Houston on October 21, and the Rockets won 128-110. Dallas is coming off its best win of the young season, so I wouldn’t expect another easy one. But I’m still taking Houston to cover. Be prepared for all the NBA action with our free NBA picks.
Houston Rockets Have Been Rolling
Houston is 5-0, and the Rockets haven’t just been beating bad teams. They’ve won at San Antonio, twice against Atlanta, and just hammered Milwaukee 132-100 on Wednesday. That was the kind of game where everything seemed to work. Houston scored, defended and never let the Bucks get comfortable. Five wins in five games is a pretty good start, especially when you’re covering the spread every night.
The Rockets are averaging 123 points and allowing about 111. That’s a healthy difference. They’ve also been getting to the basket and controlling the glass, which has helped them avoid relying entirely on outside shooting. Houston has been playing fast enough to score, but the defense has been good when it matters. Dallas just scored 120 against Oklahoma City, so the Rockets can’t assume this will be another easy night. Still, Houston has been more consistent at both ends.

Kevin Durant has been giving Houston reliable scoring, and the Rockets have been getting plenty of help around him. The big injury concern is Alperen Sengun, who’s been dealing with a back problem. Steven Adams is also out with a calf injury, while Marcus Smart has been questionable with a forearm issue. That’s some missing size and experience. Houston has managed it so far, but Dallas has enough talent inside to make the Rockets work. I’d want to know Sengun’s final status before putting too much money on the spread.
Dallas Mavericks Finally Looked Like Themselves
Dallas is 3-2 after beating Oklahoma City 120-96 Wednesday. That’s a pretty good win. The Thunder came in looking like one of the better teams in the West, and Dallas handled them. The Mavericks also beat Miami 113-109 Monday, so they’ve won two straight after a rough start. That’s encouraging. But they also lost to San Antonio by 16 and Houston by 18 earlier in the season. I’m not ready to forget those games just because they had one great night.
The Mavericks have been scoring around 112 points and allowing about 111. That’s not bad, but it’s not nearly as impressive as Houston’s numbers. Dallas has been better defensively in its wins, and that’s what it’ll need Friday. The Mavericks can’t let Houston get easy baskets in transition or dominate the offensive glass. If they can make the Rockets play in the half court, they’ve got a chance. But Houston has been getting good shots against just about everybody.
Dallas has injury concerns too. Dereck Lively II is out following foot surgery, while Kyrie Irving has been dealing with knee management. Santi Aldama and Tarik Biberovic have also been on the injury report, along with Caleb Martin and Naji Marshall. That’s a lot of moving pieces. Dallas has enough scoring to win if its main guys are available, but the Mavericks need more than one good night to convince me they’re ready to beat an unbeaten Houston team.
Houston Rockets vs Dallas Mavericks Picks and Predictions
Houston Rockets -4.5 (-110)
I’m taking Houston minus 4.5. Dallas just beat Oklahoma City by 24, and I respect that. But Houston is 5-0, has covered every game, and already beat the Mavericks by 18. That’s a pretty good argument. The Rockets have been scoring more than 120 a night and playing better defense than Dallas. The one thing that could change my mind is the injury situation. If Sengun is out and Dallas gets some of its questionable players back, the matchup gets tighter. But with the information available now, I trust Houston to make enough plays down the stretch. Rockets by seven or eight.
Over 226.5 Points (-115)
I’ll take Over 226.5. Houston has scored 128 against Dallas already, and the Rockets just put up 132 in Milwaukee. Dallas scored 120 against Oklahoma City Wednesday, so the Mavericks are capable of doing their share. Both teams have enough offense to push this into the 230s. The danger is Dallas trying to slow things down after giving up 128 in the first meeting. If the Mavericks turn this into a half-court game, the Over gets tougher. But Houston has been scoring against everybody, and I think Dallas will have to keep up. Something like Houston 119-112 gets us there.
Final Picks: Houston Rockets -4.5 (-110) and Over 226.5 Points (-115)
