Miami Heat vs Charlotte Hornets Picks and Predictions for Saturday October 24 2026
Miami and Charlotte are about to find out how much they enjoy playing basketball on consecutive nights. Both teams have games Friday before meeting Saturday, and that makes this a tricky one to handicap. The Heat host Detroit on Friday, while Charlotte hosts Atlanta. Then both clubs have to turn around and play again less than 24 hours later.
Miami opened the season by getting hammered 131-106 by Minnesota. Charlotte had a better Wednesday, beating Brooklyn 110-103. One game doesn’t tell us much about either club, but the Hornets have the better starting point. The Heat visit the Hornets at Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Tipoff is scheduled for 6:00 PM ET. Miami Heat Need A Better Defensive Effort
Miami opened 0-1 after losing 131-106 to Minnesota on Wednesday. The Heat gave up 45 points to Anthony Edwards, and the Timberwolves had little trouble creating offense. Miami was playing at home, too, which made the 25-point loss a particularly ugly way to begin the season.
Giving up 131 points is going to get you beaten most nights. The Heat have enough talent to score, but they can’t spend entire stretches trading baskets while the opponent pulls away. Miami needs to defend the perimeter better, keep opponents from getting comfortable in transition, and avoid letting one hot scorer take over the evening. The Heat also have to manage their minutes carefully with Friday’s Detroit game coming before this trip.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 35 points against Minnesota, so the problem certainly wasn’t a lack of production from Miami’s biggest name. He also grabbed six rebounds. The Heat will need more balanced scoring around him. Vladislav Goldin had been listed with an ankle issue, while recent injury reporting indicated Dru Smith and Myron Gardner were available. Friday’s game could change the rotation picture before Miami reaches Charlotte.
Charlotte Hornets Have An Opportunity At Home
Charlotte opened 1-0 with a 110-103 victory at Brooklyn. It wasn’t a 30-point blowout, but the Hornets got the job done on the road. Moussa Diabaté finished with 17 points and eight rebounds, helping Charlotte win a game where Brooklyn had enough offense to make things interesting.
The Hornets scored 110 in their opener, which is a respectable total without being particularly explosive. Miami allowed 131 to Minnesota, so Charlotte should have chances to attack. The bigger concern is the second game in two nights. The Hornets play Atlanta on Friday, and they don’t have a completely healthy rotation. Tired legs and limited depth can turn a decent offensive team into one that struggles to score for six minutes at a time.
Diabaté gave Charlotte a strong performance in Brooklyn, but the injury list is the story heading into the weekend. Kon Knueppel is out with a hamstring injury, Coby White is sidelined with a calf strain, Grant Williams has a hamstring problem, and Kylan Boswell is recovering from knee surgery. Those are meaningful absences. Charlotte needs its available guards to take care of the ball and avoid making life too easy for Miami.
Miami Heat vs Charlotte Hornets Picks and Predictions
Charlotte Hornets Moneyline
I’ll lean Charlotte at home, provided the moneyline is reasonable when it becomes available. Miami has the best individual scoring threat in this matchup, and Antetokounmpo can wreck a pick in a hurry. But the Heat’s opening defensive effort was rough, and Charlotte already has a road win. The Hornets have injury problems of their own, so I’m not treating this as a strong play until Friday’s games are finished and the Saturday line is posted.
Under
My early lean is under. Both teams are playing their second game in two nights, and Charlotte is missing several rotation players. That can show up in the shooting percentages late in the game. Miami’s defensive performance against Minnesota is the obvious argument for the over, and if Friday turns into another high-scoring night, this total could climb. I want to see the posted number before calling it a wager. My preliminary score is Charlotte 109, Miami 105.
