The NBA Champion Thunder (2-0) are the first team in NBA history to play consecutive double overtime games to start the season. On Thursday, MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored a career-high 55 points (23-26 FT) to lead Oklahoma City to a 141-135 road victory against Indiana.

Ajay Mitchell converted all eight free-throw attempts and finished with 26 points in 38 minutes off the Thunder bench. Aaron Wiggins contributed 23 points on 7-for-14 shooting and pulled down nine boards. Chet Holmgren added 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Thunder, who missed 25 of 35 three-point attempts.

Hawks Preview

The Atlanta Hawks were eliminated in last season’s Play-In Tournament and need to improve a defense that ranked 18th in efficiency. The Hawks (1-1) have assembled lengthy perimeter defenders to compliment Trae Young’s offensive gifts. Last night, Atlanta outscored Orlando by 12 points in the fourth quarter to rally for a 111-107 road victory.

All-Star G Trae Young led five Atlanta players in double figures with 25 points (7-18 FG) and six assists. Despite shooting 1-for-10 from the three-point line, Nickeil Alexander Walker finished with 19 points. Onyeka Okongwu added 17 points and four rebounds for the Hawks.
