In the first game of a Wednesday night NBA on ESPN playoff doubleheader, the Orlando Magic will battle the Detroit Pistons from Little Caesars Arena. For other NBA action see our NBA Predictions. The eighth-seeded Magic won seven of ten games to finish the regular season and allowed 115.1 points per contest. In the series opener, Orlando assisted on 26 of 44 made field goals and shot 49 percent overall during a 112-101 road victory against Detroit.

All five Orlando starters scored in double figures and were led by Paolo Banchero with 23 points (8-15 FG). Franz Wagner scored 19 points on 7-for-13 shooting and pulled down five boards. Wendell Carter Jr. and Desmond Bane added 17 points each for the Magic, who outrebounded the Pistons by a 45-39 margin.

Pistons Preview

The Detroit Pistons were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs a season ago and responded by winning 31 of 40 home games. The top-seeded Pistons ranked second in the league in defensive efficiency and limited opponents to 109.6 points per game. During Sunday’s home loss, Detroit missed 22 of 32 three-point attempts and shot 40 percent from the field.

All-Star G Cade Cunningham erupted for a game-high 39 points on 13-for-27 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. Veteran F Tobias Harris scored 17 points (5-15 FG) and secured six boards. Ausar Thompson added eight points and seven rebounds for the Pistons, who were outscored 54-34 in the paint.
