The Magic (1-2) ranked second in the league in defensive efficiency last season and should be improved on offense with the addition of Desmond Bane. On Saturday, Orlando missed 21 of 24 three-point attempts during a 110-98 home loss versus Chicago.

All-Star F Paolo Banchero led all scorers with 24 points on an inefficient 7-for-21 shooting and grabbed ten rebounds. Anthony Black scored 19 points (6-9 FG) in 30 minutes off the Orlando bench. Franz Wagner added 17 points and seven boards for the Magic, who shot an ice cold 39 percent from the field.

76ers Preview

The Philadelphia 76ers were ravaged by injuries last season and failed to qualify for the postseason. The 76ers (2-0) have infused plenty of young talent around declining C Joel Embiid and could be a dark horse in the Eastern Conference race. On Saturday, Philadelphia outscored Charlotte by 14 points over the final 12 minutes to rally for a 125-121 home victory.

Philadelphia G Tyrese Maxey tallied a game-high 28 points (7-20 FG), nine assists, and six rebounds. Joel Embiid scored 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting in 20 minutes of action. Rookie G V.J. Edgecombe added 15 points and eight assists for the 76ers, who knocked down 18-for-39 from the three-point line.
