Orlando Magic vs Toronto Raptors Picks and Predictions for Wednesday October 28 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/28/2026, 12:20 AM ET

Orlando went into Madison Square Garden Sunday and beat the Knicks without Paolo Banchero. I’ll give the Magic credit for that. Winning on the road without your best scorer isn’t easy. But now they’ve got to do it again in Toronto, and I don’t like their chances nearly as much. The Raptors are coming home after getting beaten badly by Minnesota, and they’ve got enough size and scoring to make Orlando’s missing players a real problem. I think Toronto gets this one.

The Magic visit Scotiabank Arena on Wednesday, October 28, for a 7:30 PM ET matchup with the Raptors. Toronto is 2-1 after losing its first game Sunday, while Orlando is 1-2. The Banchero injury is the biggest story heading into this matchup. My picks are Toronto on the moneyline and Under 226.5, with the total serving as a target number until confirmed in the market. With the NBA season picking up traction it is time to find the winning path with our free NBA picks.

Orlando Magic Have to Find More Offense Without Banchero

Orlando is 1-2. The Magic lost their first two games, falling 132-125 to Atlanta and 115-93 to Minnesota, before beating New York 111-102 on Sunday. That win was encouraging. Orlando played better defense, got enough scoring from its remaining players and didn’t let the Knicks take control late. But one good game doesn’t erase the fact that this team is missing a huge part of its offense. Going into Toronto and doing it again is going to be difficult.

The Magic are averaging 109.7 points and allowing 116.3. They’ve been giving up too many points, and the offense hasn’t been particularly reliable. Without Banchero, they need more movement and better outside shooting to make up for what he normally creates. Orlando can still defend when everybody is locked in, but the Magic have less room for mistakes now. If Toronto takes away the first option on a possession, Orlando could have trouble finding a good second one.

Franz Wagner is averaging 21 points and 6.3 assists, and he’ll have to do a lot of the work with Banchero sidelined by a high ankle sprain. Wendell Carter Jr. is averaging 8.7 rebounds and has been finishing efficiently around the basket. Desmond Bane gives Orlando another scoring option, but the injury list is getting long. Jalen Suggs is out with a knee problem, Jonathan Isaac has been dealing with a knee issue, and both Izaiyah Nelson and Noah Penda are sidelined. That’s a lot of missing help for a team already trying to adjust its offense.

Toronto Raptors Have a Good Chance to Bounce Back

Toronto is 2-1 after losing 117-94 at Minnesota on Sunday. That was a rough one. The Raptors had started the season with two wins, including a 112-102 victory in Washington, but they couldn’t get much going against the Timberwolves. Scottie Barnes had an especially poor shooting night, and Toronto never really found enough offense to make it interesting. I wouldn’t read too much into one bad road game, though. The Raptors are back home, and Orlando is arriving with a thinner lineup than usual.

Toronto is averaging 113.7 points and allowing only 103.7. The Raptors have been playing pretty good defense, and that’s what makes me like them in this matchup. They can use their size to bother Orlando around the basket and force the Magic into difficult outside shots. Toronto also has enough players who can handle the ball to keep the offense moving. The Raptors don’t need somebody to score 40 Wednesday. They need a balanced effort and a better shooting night than they had in Minnesota.

RJ Barrett is averaging 21 points and shooting 51% from the field. Barnes is pulling down 7.7 rebounds, while Immanuel Quickley leads the team with five assists per game. That’s a good group to lean on after a loss. Toronto does have some injury questions. Kawhi Leonard has been dealing with a knee issue, and Nate Bittle is day-to-day with a foot problem. Leonard’s availability is especially important because it changes how much scoring Toronto can expect from its starting group. Even if he’s limited, though, I still like the Raptors’ depth more than Orlando’s right now.

Orlando Magic vs Toronto Raptors Picks and Predictions

Toronto Raptors Moneyline

I’m taking Toronto to win. Orlando deserves credit for beating New York without Banchero, but I’m not convinced the Magic can keep doing that against better defensive teams. Toronto has been allowing only 103.7 points per game, and Orlando is missing too many players who normally create offense. Wagner can score, and Bane could have a big night if his outside shot is falling. That’s the danger. But I like Barrett’s ability to attack the basket, Barnes on the glass and Quickley running the offense. Toronto has more ways to win this game, and I think the Raptors respond well after Sunday’s loss.

Under 226.5 — Target Total

Under 226.5 is the other play. Orlando has scored 93 and 111 in its last two games, and the Magic are still trying to figure out how to replace Banchero’s production. Toronto has allowed fewer than 104 points per game, and I think the Raptors will be able to make Orlando work for its shots. The risk is that Toronto gets out in transition and turns Orlando’s missed shots into easy baskets. That could push the score up quickly. But I don’t see the Magic getting to 115 unless they have an unusually good shooting night. Something around Toronto 112-103 looks about right to me.

Final Picks: Toronto Raptors Moneyline and Under 226.5 (target total)
