The seventh-seeded 76ers finished three games above .500 on the road and averaged a shade below 116 points per contest.

In the series opener, Philadelphia missed 19 of 23 three-point attempts and shot an ice cold 39 percent overall during a lopsided 123-91 road loss.

All-Star G Tyrese Maxey led four Philadelphia players in double figures with 21 points (8-20 FG) and eight assists. Paul George converted 8-of-9 free-throws and finished with 17 points. Rookie G V.J. Edgecombe added 13 points (6-16 FG) and three assists for the 76ers.

Celtics Preview

The Boston Celtics came into this season with Jayson Tatum recovering from Achilles surgery and were not expected to challenge for an NBA title. The second-seeded Celtics ranked second in the league in offensive efficiency and scored 114.9 points per game. During Sunday’s home victory, Boston raced out to a 15-point lead after one quarter and shot 50 percent from the field.
