Toronto Raptors Preview
Toronto ended last season on a positive note despite missing the playoffs. After a rough 7–26 start, the Raptors went 22–21 the rest of the way and became one of the league’s best defensive teams, jumping from 26th to 2nd in rating after the All-Star break. That progress gives them a foundation to build on as they add more scoring.
The biggest change comes with Brandon Ingram, who’s set to make his long-awaited Raptors debut. Ingram’s shooting and playmaking should help Scottie Barnes, who averaged 19.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists last year. Rookie Collin Murray-Boyles, drafted ninth overall, brings solid rebounding, while Jakob Poeltl remains a steady inside presence at both ends. With a deep bench and few injuries, Toronto should be more balanced on both ends this season.
Atlanta Hawks Preview
The Hawks want to move beyond the Play-In stage after four straight appearances. They finished 40–42 last season and made several offseason moves to move up in the East. Trae Young again leads the attack after topping the league with 11.6 assists per game last season, and new arrival Kristaps Porziņģis gives him a tall pick-and-roll partner who can stretch the floor and protect the rim.

Dyson Daniels returns as one of the NBA’s best perimeter defenders after averaging over three steals per game, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker adds size on the wing. A healthy Jalen Johnson and the addition of shooter Luke Kennard give coach Quin Snyder flexibility and depth. If the new group gels early, Atlanta’s offense should remain among the league’s most dangerous.
