Anaheim Ducks vs New York Rangers Picks and Predictions for Monday October 19 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/19/2026, 12:15 AM ET

The Rangers have scored one lousy goal in their last two games. One. They got smoked 7-1 by New Jersey on Thursday, then went to Columbus on Saturday and lost 1-0 in overtime. Anaheim isn’t exactly coming to town feeling good, either. The Ducks had Boston down 2-0 Friday and somehow lost 4-2. Three power-play goals allowed. That’ll do it.

Anaheim visits Madison Square Garden on Monday, October 19, 2026, with puck drop at 7:00 PM ET. New York is around -130 on the moneyline, and the total has been showing at six goals on some boards, with 6.5 available in other early listings. Check that number before betting. The Rangers have had a couple of ugly nights, but Anaheim hasn’t been finishing games very well. For more hockey action, check out our free NHL picks.

Anaheim Ducks Can’t Keep Blowing Leads

Anaheim is 4-3-0 and has lost two straight. Both were 4-2 losses at home, first to Calgary and then Boston. The Ducks were up 2-0 against the Bruins with less than a minute left in the first period. They scored twice in 21 seconds and looked like they were going to have themselves a pretty good night. Then Boston got a power-play goal in the second, two more in the third, and that was that. Anaheim is 3-0 on the road, though. Maybe getting out of California will do them some good.

The Ducks have scored 24 goals in seven games, so the offense hasn’t been bad. They’re averaging 3.43 a night. They’ve allowed 21, which works out to three per game. That’s where things get uncomfortable. Boston scored three times on four power plays Friday, and Anaheim went 0-for-5 with its own chances. The Ducks also managed only four shots in the third period. Four shots when you’re trying to protect a lead. You can blame the goaltender for some things, but not that. Anaheim needs to spend more time attacking and less time watching the other team move the puck around.

The Ducks are missing Ryan Poehling, who is expected to be out six to eight weeks with a knee injury. Mikael Granlund also missed Friday’s game with an upper-body problem, and his status needs checking before Monday. That’s not ideal when the team is already having trouble on special teams. Anaheim has been getting enough offense at even strength, but the Ducks need more from the power play. Going 0-for-5 while the other team scores three times with the extra man is a good way to lose a game you should’ve won.

New York Rangers Need Somebody To Score

New York is 6-3-1, but the last two games have been ugly. First came that 7-1 beating from New Jersey. Then the Rangers went to Columbus and lost 1-0 in overtime. At least they played some defense Saturday. They held Columbus scoreless through regulation, which was a pretty good response after giving up seven. But they couldn’t score, either. The Rangers had 29 shots and got nothing. That’s one goal in two games for a team that scored six against Vancouver and four against Tampa Bay earlier in the week.

New York has scored 28 goals in ten games and allowed 24. That’s 2.8 scored and 2.4 allowed per night. Not bad overall, but the recent offense has been miserable. The Rangers need to get more traffic in front of the net and stop making life so easy for opposing goaltenders. Against Columbus, they had chances but couldn’t finish. Anaheim is allowing three goals per game, and the Ducks just gave up four to Boston. There should be some openings. New York has to do something with them.

The Rangers are dealing with an injury to goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, who has a lower-body problem. That could affect who starts Monday, and it’s worth checking before making a bet. New York got a strong performance in net against Columbus, allowing only one goal in overtime, so the goaltending wasn’t the problem Saturday. The offense was. The Rangers need to get back to the kind of hockey they were playing before the New Jersey game. They’ve shown they can score. Right now, they’re making it look awfully difficult.

Anaheim Ducks vs New York Rangers Picks and Predictions

New York Rangers Moneyline (-130)

I’m taking the Rangers at -130. Anaheim is 3-0 on the road, and that bothers me a little. But the Ducks just blew a two-goal lead against Boston, went 0-for-5 on the power play, and managed four shots in the third period. That’s not good hockey. New York hasn’t been scoring, either, but the Rangers played a much better defensive game against Columbus after that disaster against New Jersey. I think getting back to the Garden helps. Anaheim is allowing three goals a night, and the Rangers should get enough chances to put a couple past the Ducks. I’ll take New York to win.

Under 6.5 Goals

Give me the under 6.5 if that number is available. The Rangers just played a 1-0 game, and they’ve scored once in two nights. Anaheim’s last two games both finished with six goals. The Ducks have enough offense to make this uncomfortable, but they’re also missing some depth and haven’t been getting much from the power play. I think New York plays a tighter game after what happened against New Jersey. The danger is Anaheim getting hot early or the Rangers finally breaking loose for five goals. But I see something closer to 3-2. Under 6.5 works for me. At six, I’d be more careful with the price.

Final Picks: New York Rangers Moneyline (-130) and Under 6.5 Goals (if available)
