Bruins Bring Offensive Firepower to Nashville

The Boston Bruins enter this matchup with a 34-21-5 record on the season and have gone 11-13-4 on the road. Boston has gone 2-3 over their last five games, recently winning over the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 and defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-2. The Bruins also recently lost to the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1, lost to the Florida Panthers 5-4 in a shootout, and lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 6-5 in a shootout.

Boston has been strong offensively throughout the season, averaging 3.36 goals per game while generating 27.1 shots per contest. Defensively the Bruins allow 3.12 goals per game while opponents average 30.0 shots against them. The offense has been particularly dangerous on the power play with 45 power play goals and a strong 26.0% power play percentage.

One aspect of the Bruins that stands out is their ability to generate offense with the man advantage. Boston’s power play has been among the more productive units in the league and can swing momentum quickly in games, especially against teams that struggle defensively.

Predators Looking to Snap Recent Losing Streak

The Nashville Predators come into this matchup with a 27-26-8 overall record and have gone 16-13-3 at home this season. Nashville has struggled recently, losing four of their last five games. They recently lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-2, lost to the Detroit Red Wings 4-2, and lost to the Dallas Stars 3-2 in overtime. Their only win in that stretch came against the Chicago Blackhawks by a 4-2 score, while they also lost earlier to the Washington Capitals 4-2.

The Predators average 2.90 goals per game while generating 28.6 shots per contest. Defensively they have struggled at times, allowing 3.45 goals per game while giving up 29.3 shots per game to opponents. Special teams have been decent with 40 power play goals and a 22.6% power play conversion rate.

One of Nashville’s more reliable areas this season has been their penalty kill, which is operating at 80.0%. However, defensive consistency has been an issue overall, and limiting Boston’s dangerous power play opportunities will be key if the Predators hope to compete in this game.

Boston Bruins vs Nashville Predators Pick

Bruins vs Predators Pick

  • Pick: Boston Bruins Moneyline

Boston has been the more consistent team overall this season and possesses a stronger offensive attack. The Bruins have been productive on the power play and have the scoring depth to pressure Nashville’s defense throughout the game. With Nashville struggling in recent games and allowing over three goals per contest this season, Boston appears to have the advantage in this matchup.

Bruins vs Predators Total Pick

  • Pick: Take the Over

I like the over in this matchup because both teams have shown defensive vulnerabilities this season. Nashville is allowing well over three goals per game and Boston has been involved in several high-scoring games recently. With the Bruins’ strong power play and Nashville capable of generating offense at home, I expect several scoring opportunities in this contest.

Final Score Prediction: Bruins 4, Predators 3

This prediction was written before the completion of game play on Wednesday.
