Calgary Flames vs Vegas Golden Knights Picks and Predictions for Thursday October 15 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/15/2026, 12:50 AM ET

The Calgary Flames head to Las Vegas on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to play the Golden Knights at T-Mobile Arena. Puck drop is at 10:00 PM ET. Calgary finally got a win Tuesday, beating Anaheim 4-2. Vegas went into Nashville and won 5-2. The Golden Knights are favored around -290, with Calgary at +235 and the total listed at 6.5 goals at some sportsbooks. I’m taking Vegas on the puck line at -1.5, around -120. Why lay nearly three dollars on a team when I think it’s got a decent shot to win by a couple? Calgary has been awful defensively, and Vegas has already scored 29 goals this season. I think we’re getting a few goals here. Mostly from the Golden Knights. Calgary Flames Finally Won A Hockey Game

Calgary is 1-5 and finally got into the win column Tuesday. The Flames beat Anaheim 4-2, and I imagine that felt pretty good after five straight losses. They’d already lost twice to Seattle by identical 6-1 scores and dropped another 4-2 game against Anaheim over the weekend. Rough start. Against the Ducks on Tuesday, Calgary actually looked like it wanted to win. The Flames broke a third-period tie, added an empty-netter and got the job done. Their goalie made 23 saves. Nothing spectacular, but good enough. Now they have to do it again against Vegas. That’s a much different assignment. The Golden Knights aren’t going to give Calgary much room to mess around.

The Flames have scored 12 goals in six games. Two per night. That’s not much. They’ve allowed 29, which works out to 4.83 against. Almost five goals a game! And we’re supposed to trust that defense against Vegas? I don’t. Calgary has been getting shots, but the offense hasn’t been finishing enough chances. The 4-2 win over Anaheim was the first time the Flames scored more than two this season. The power play hasn’t been doing enough either. Vegas has been scoring 3.63 goals per game, so Calgary needs more than the occasional goal to keep up. The Flames can play a decent period here and there. Putting together a whole game has been the problem.

Calgary did get some nice contributions Tuesday. A rookie had a goal and an assist, and the game-winner came with a little more than four minutes left. Good stuff. The goalie stopped 23 of 25 shots, which was a welcome change after some rough nights. But the Flames have injuries. Jonathan Huberdeau is out with a hip problem, and Samuel Honzek is also sidelined. That’s missing offense on a team that already struggles to score. Calgary needs somebody to step up, but I don’t know where all those extra goals are supposed to come from. They scored four against Anaheim. Great. Now try doing that against Vegas.

Vegas Golden Knights Have Been Playing Some Good Hockey

Vegas is 6-2 and coming off a 5-2 win over Nashville. The Golden Knights had lost 4-2 to Minnesota the night before, so that was a nice bounce-back. They were down 3-0 early against the Wild and never really recovered. Then they went into Nashville and scored five. That’s how you answer a bad night. Vegas also has wins over Seattle, Toronto, Los Angeles and Vancouver. Six wins in eight games. I’d say things are going pretty well. The Golden Knights are back home Thursday, and now they get a Calgary team that’s been giving up nearly five goals every night. I think Vegas will be looking forward to this one.

The Golden Knights have scored 29 goals and allowed 20 through eight games. That’s 3.63 scored and 2.5 against per night. Calgary is at two scored and 4.83 allowed. Look at that difference. Vegas has been getting chances from all over the lineup, and the offense has been finishing them. The Golden Knights also haven’t been spending nearly as much time chasing the puck around their own end. They’ve had a few rough defensive games, sure. Anaheim scored four against them, and Minnesota did the same. But compare that with what Calgary has been doing. The Flames allowed six to Seattle twice. Six! I’d be surprised if Vegas doesn’t get at least three or four Thursday.

Vegas has been getting plenty of offense from its veteran forwards, and the goaltending has been good enough to support it. The Golden Knights scored five against Nashville with their other main goalie in net, so it’s nice having more than one option. I’d still check Thursday’s starter. The injuries aren’t too bad compared with Calgary, although Victor Olofsson remains out and Parker Wotherspoon has an upper-body problem. Those absences matter, but Vegas has been getting production from different lines. That’s what makes this team tough to play against. Shut down one group, and somebody else gets a chance. Calgary hasn’t been able to stop much of anybody. I don’t love that matchup for the Flames.

Calgary Flames vs Vegas Golden Knights Picks and Predictions

Puck Line Pick: Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (-120)

I’m taking Vegas -1.5 at -120. Calgary finally won Tuesday, and good for them. But one win doesn’t erase five losses. The Flames have allowed 29 goals in six games. Vegas has scored 29 in eight. That’s a problem. I could take the Golden Knights on the moneyline, but laying -290? No thanks. I’d rather take my chances with Vegas winning by two. The Golden Knights have already won by three against Nashville, four against Seattle and three against Chicago. They can put teams away. Calgary could make this a little uncomfortable if its goalie plays like he did Tuesday, and Vegas has lost games when its defense gets sloppy. I get that. But I don’t see the Flames suddenly fixing everything overnight. Vegas should get plenty of chances. Give me the Golden Knights -1.5.

Total Pick: Over 6.5 Goals (+105)

I’ll take Over 6.5 at +105. Calgary is allowing 4.83 goals a night. Almost five! Vegas is scoring 3.63, and the Golden Knights just put five on Nashville. I think Vegas can score four or five again. The question is whether Calgary helps us out. The Flames are averaging only two goals, so that’s the part that worries me. If Vegas wins 4-1, we’re done. But Calgary just scored four against Anaheim, and Vegas has given up four in a couple of games already. The Golden Knights aren’t perfect defensively. I think Calgary can sneak a couple past them, especially if Vegas gets comfortable with a lead. I’m looking at something like 5-2 Golden Knights. Seven goals gets us there. I’ll take the over.

Final Picks: Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (-120) and Over 6.5 Goals (+105).
