Hurricanes Preview
Carolina continues to control games with relentless puck pressure and balanced scoring. The Hurricanes average 4.75 goals per game and allow only 2.00, with forechecking and second looks of shots creating long offensive zone sequences. Seth Jarvis has been on fire, leading the team with eight points (six goals, two assists). Frederik Andersen has handled three starts with a 2.27 GAA and .899 save percentage, while rookie Brandon Bussi has impressed in limited action, posting a 1.00 GAA. The power play is average at 14.3%, but Carolina’s penalty kill has been exceptional at 92.9%, a key advantage against Vegas’s hot power play.
Golden Knights Preview
Vegas returns home riding a six-game point streak and a renewed offensive spark led by Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner. Eichel already leads the NHL with 15 points, including 10 assists, while Marner netted his first two goals as a Golden Knight in Saturday’s win. Vegas has been lethal on the power play, converting 28.6% of its chances, though the penalty kill lags at 66.7%. The biggest concern is injuries: Mark Stone left the Calgary game with a wrist injury, and his status is uncertain. In goal, Adin Hill has yet to play well with a 3.60 GAA and .882 save rate, while Akira Schmid (3.00 GAA, .879 SV%) hasn’t been much better. Still, Vegas remains tough at home with a 4.00 goals-for average.
Golden Knights vs Hurricanes Prediction
This matchup has two of the NHL’s most complete rosters, but Carolina’s defense, power play, and penalty kill give it the slight advantage. If the Hurricanes can stay out of the box and maintain puck control, transition speed could expose Vegas’s defensive lapses, especially if Stone remains sidelined. Expect sustained pressure from both sides early, with Carolina’s goaltending proving decisive late.
