Colorado Avalanche vs Philadelphia Flyers Picks and Predictions for Monday October 19 2026
Philadelphia finally won a hockey game Saturday. Took ten tries, but the Flyers beat Ottawa 3-1 and got that first one out of the way. Nice win. Now they get Colorado, which just scored five unanswered goals against Pittsburgh. That’s a pretty lousy reward for finally getting off the losing streak.
Colorado visits Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia on Monday, October 19, 2026. Puck drop is 7:00 PM ET, with coverage on NBC Sports Philadelphia and Altitude. The Avalanche are -210 on the moneyline, while the Flyers are +180. The total is 6.5 goals, with the under priced at -130. That’s a fairly expensive number on Colorado, but there’s a reason for it. Colorado Avalanche Are Scoring Plenty
Colorado is 5-2-1 and coming off a 5-2 win over Pittsburgh. The Penguins actually jumped ahead 2-0 in that game, then Colorado scored five straight. That’s not a bad response. The Avalanche have scored at least five goals in four of their eight games, including eight against Los Angeles in the opener and six against St. Louis. They’re 2-1 away from home, and this is the start of another road trip. Colorado has been playing well enough that an early two-goal deficit doesn’t seem to bother it much.
The Avalanche have 36 goals through eight games. That’s 4.5 per night, which is a lot of offense. They’ve allowed 23, so the defense hasn’t been perfect, but they haven’t needed it to be. Colorado can beat teams by getting four or five goals and letting the goaltender take care of the rest. Against Pittsburgh, the Avalanche got 29 saves from their starter and took advantage of their chances. Philadelphia has scored only 14 goals in ten games. That’s a huge difference. The Flyers are going to have to play a very good defensive game to keep this close.

Colorado has been dealing with some lineup injuries, and the Avalanche used 11 forwards and seven defensemen against Pittsburgh. That can wear on a team over a long stretch, although the extra rest before Monday should help. The offense has been getting contributions from several lines, and that’s what makes the Avalanche difficult to defend. Philadelphia can’t just focus on one scoring unit. Colorado also has a dangerous power play, so the Flyers need to stay out of the penalty box. That’s easier said than done against a team that moves the puck this well.
Philadelphia Flyers Finally Got One
Philadelphia is 1-6-3 after beating Ottawa 3-1 Saturday. The Flyers had gone nine games without a win, and that had to be getting old. They played a better game against the Senators, outshot them 14-6 in the first period, and finally got some offense. It was also their first three-goal game of the season. Think about that. Ten games into the year, and three goals is a season high. Now they get the highest-scoring team in the league. That’s not exactly ideal.
The Flyers have scored 14 goals and allowed 33 through ten games. That’s 1.4 scored and 3.3 allowed per game. Colorado is averaging 4.5 goals, so you can see the problem. Philadelphia has been playing plenty of close games, but it hasn’t been finishing chances. The defense has also given up too many quality opportunities. Against Ottawa, the Flyers did a better job limiting chances and got strong goaltending. They’ll need more of that Monday. Colorado can make a team pay for one bad change or one missed assignment.
Philadelphia got 25 saves on 26 shots from its goaltender against Ottawa, and that’s the sort of performance it needs again. The Flyers also finally got some production from their power play. But I’m not convinced one win fixes everything. They’ve been struggling to score all season, and Colorado isn’t going to make life easy. Philadelphia needs to keep the puck out of its own zone and avoid spending entire shifts chasing the Avalanche around. That’s where this game could get away from them.
Colorado Avalanche vs Philadelphia Flyers Picks and Predictions
Colorado Avalanche Moneyline (-210)
I’m taking Colorado, even though -210 isn’t a price I love. Philadelphia finally won, and the Flyers deserve some credit for beating Ottawa. But they still have only 14 goals in ten games. Colorado has 36 in eight. That’s a massive difference in offensive production. The Avalanche just scored five straight against Pittsburgh after falling behind 2-0, and they’ve been getting goals from all over the lineup. The concern is the price. At -210, there’s not much room for error. But I think Colorado has too much offense for Philadelphia to handle.
Under 6.5 Goals (-130)
I’m taking the under 6.5, and this one isn’t as comfortable as the moneyline. Colorado can score five or six by itself, and that’s the danger. But Philadelphia has been struggling to score more than two goals. The Flyers have gone under in eight of their ten games, and they just won 3-1. I think they’ll try to slow Colorado down rather than trade chances. The Avalanche should still get their goals, but I don’t see Philadelphia contributing enough to push this over unless Colorado’s defense gets careless. A 4-2 Colorado win sounds reasonable.
