Edmonton Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks Picks and Predictions for Wednesday October 7 2026
The Edmonton Oilers visit the Anaheim Ducks at Honda Center in Anaheim on Wednesday, October 7, 2026. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:00 PM ET. Edmonton has already shown exactly how dangerous its offense can become when a game opens up, and the Oilers now head to Southern California for a matchup where Anaheim will have to decide whether it really wants to trade chances with them. Edmonton Is Already Comfortable in a Track Meet
Edmonton’s early-season hockey hasn’t exactly been designed for fans who enjoy 1-0 games. The Oilers have already been involved in a 9-7 victory over Vancouver, a game that demonstrated both the obvious strength and concern with this team.
Scoring nine is ridiculous. Allowing seven isn’t something Edmonton wants to make a habit of. Still, if a game becomes an exchange of offensive chances, there aren’t many teams better equipped to survive it than the Oilers.
That’s the problem Anaheim faces Wednesday. The Ducks need to generate offense at home, but every additional risk they take can create space going the other direction. Edmonton is one of the last opponents you want to give repeated transition opportunities.

Anaheim Can’t Let Edmonton Dictate the Style
Anaheim’s path isn’t complicated, even if executing it is. The Ducks need to slow Edmonton through the neutral zone, avoid unnecessary penalties and prevent the Oilers from turning the night into another track meet.
Home ice should help. Anaheim can control the matchups and should be able to generate some offense of its own, especially if Edmonton’s defensive performance resembles what we saw against Vancouver.
The concern is what happens if Anaheim falls behind early. Chasing Edmonton generally requires taking more offensive risks, and those risks can quickly turn a one-goal deficit into something much larger.
Edmonton Oilers vs Anaheim Ducks Picks and Predictions
Pick: Edmonton Oilers Moneyline
Edmonton is the side pick. The defensive issues are enough to keep me away from an aggressive puck-line play, but the Oilers have such a significant offensive ceiling that the moneyline is still attractive. Anaheim should have chances at home, but keeping pace with Edmonton for three periods is a much more difficult assignment. I’ll take the Oilers to simply win rather than asking them to do it comfortably.
Pick: Over 6.5 Goals
This is my favorite total of the three games. Edmonton has already participated in a 9-7 game, and that isn’t something we should ignore when evaluating how the Oilers are playing right now. Anaheim doesn’t need to score four or five by itself. If the Ducks contribute two or three goals, Edmonton has enough offensive firepower to do the rest. The Over 6.5 is the better way to approach a matchup with legitimate 5-3 or 4-3 potential.
Final Picks: Edmonton Oilers Moneyline and Over 6.5 Goals
