Florida Panthers vs Winnipeg Jets Picks and Predictions for Tuesday October 27 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/27/2026, 12:25 AM ET

You want to bet Winnipeg right now? Go ahead. I can't talk you out of it. But you're putting money on a hockey team that's lost five straight and scored two goals or fewer in four of those games. That's asking an awful lot from your goaltender every night. Florida isn't exactly tearing up the league either, but the Panthers at least found a way to beat Chicago on Sunday. It wasn't pretty. Didn't need to be. A 3-2 road win counts the same as any other, and I'd rather have a team coming off that kind of result than one still trying to remember what winning feels like.

Florida heads into Canada Life Centre to face Winnipeg on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Puck drop is set for 8:00 PM ET, with ESPN+ carrying the game in the United States. I'm looking at Florida on the moneyline at -115 or better and Under 6.5 goals. Those are my betting targets until the actual prices are confirmed. Florida Panthers Are Winning Just Enough Games

Florida is 6-4-2, with a 3-3-2 record away from home. The Panthers have been all over the place lately. They scored eight against Seattle, got hammered 5-1 in Ottawa, were shut out 4-0 in Pittsburgh, then went into Chicago and won 3-2. Try figuring that team out. I wouldn't call them reliable. But I will give them credit for Sunday. After getting blanked in Pittsburgh, they went out the next game and found three goals. That's a decent response, especially on the road.

Florida is scoring 2.76 goals a game and allowing 3.02. That's not the kind of scoring average you'd normally want from a road favorite. The Panthers also take way too many penalties. Seventy in twelve games. You can't keep giving teams free power plays and expect it not to catch up with you. But Winnipeg has been having a hard enough time scoring at even strength, and Florida can still make life unpleasant along the boards and in front of the net. The Panthers don't need five goals here. They need to keep Winnipeg from getting comfortable.

The injury list is ugly. Aleksander Barkov is out, Brad Marchand is out, and Jacob Markstrom is unavailable in goal. Jonah Gadjovich is sidelined too, while Gustav Forsling has been dealing with an upper-body problem. You can't pretend those absences don't matter. Barkov and Marchand are two guys who can change a game, and missing Markstrom means Florida has to lean on somebody else in net. Still, Matthew Tkachuk had 15 points through the early schedule, including 12 assists, and Brady Tkachuk had seven goals. There's offense left on this roster. Maybe not enough to trust every night, but enough to beat a Winnipeg team that's struggling to put the puck in the net.

Winnipeg Jets Can't Keep Living on One-Goal Games

Winnipeg is 4-4-3 overall and 2-2-1 at home. Five losses in a row now. The latest was Sunday's 2-1 defeat against Montreal, and I'm sure the Jets are sick of hearing about how close these games have been. Close doesn't get you two points. They lost 3-2 to Dallas in overtime, 2-1 to St. Louis and 3-2 to Carolina during this skid. It's almost the same game every night. Winnipeg hangs around, gives itself a chance, then somebody else gets the winning goal.

The Jets are scoring 2.56 goals a game. That's the part I can't get past. Their defense has actually been decent enough, allowing 2.86 per contest, but how many nights can you ask your goaltender to win 2-1? Eventually somebody has to score. And against Florida, Winnipeg might get chances on the power play because the Panthers take so many penalties. That's the obvious danger to my pick. But the Jets have to finish those chances. They haven't been doing much of that lately.

Kyle Connor has eight goals and eleven points, so he's certainly doing his share. Mark Scheifele has been creating chances too, with six assists through the early games. But Winnipeg needs more than one or two guys to carry the offense. Josh Morrissey is out with an upper-body injury, and that's a big loss on defense. Vladislav Namestnikov and Garrett Brown are also unavailable. Nino Niederreiter has been dealing with an upper-body issue, and Connor Hellebuyck's status needs a final check. That's important because goaltending might be Winnipeg's best chance to steal this one. If the Jets get a strong performance in net, they can keep Florida uncomfortable all night. But somebody still has to score the goals.

Florida Panthers vs Winnipeg Jets Picks and Predictions

Florida Panthers Moneyline -115 or Better

I'm taking Florida at -115 or better. And no, I'm not pretending the Panthers are playing great hockey. They're not. They just lost 4-0 in Pittsburgh before beating Chicago 3-2. But Winnipeg has lost five straight, and I'm not paying to find out whether Tuesday is finally the night the Jets figure out their offense. Florida has enough guys who can make something happen, even with Barkov and Marchand out. The Panthers also know how to play an ugly road game, and that's probably what this turns into. Winnipeg might control stretches of play. The Jets might even get the better of the chances. But until they show me they can finish those chances, I'm not backing them. Give me Florida in a close one.

Under 6.5 Goals

I'll take Under 6.5 as well. Winnipeg has been playing these tight, low-scoring games for a reason. The Jets aren't producing enough offense to get away from anybody, and Florida has scored three goals or fewer in six of its last seven games. The Panthers are missing important offensive players, and Winnipeg isn't exactly healthy either. The danger is Florida's penalty problem. A couple of Winnipeg power-play goals could change the whole game, especially if the Panthers' goaltending struggles. But six goals would still leave us under this number. I can see a 3-2 Florida win, maybe even 2-1 if the goaltenders are sharp. Either way, I don't expect a track meet.
