Nashville Predators vs Colorado Avalanche Picks and Prediction for Thursday November 5 2026
Nashville heads to Denver on Thursday night for a 9:30 PM ET matchup against the Avalanche at Ball Arena. Both teams played Tuesday, and they couldn’t have had more different experiences. Nashville beat Carolina 4-1, while Colorado got embarrassed 7-2 by Columbus. That’s not the kind of performance you’d expect from an Avalanche team that’s been scoring in bunches this season. Now Colorado gets to return home and try to forget about it. Get into the action with all of our free NHL picks.
Nashville Predators Have Been Difficult to Beat
Nashville is 6-4-5 after beating Carolina 4-1 on Tuesday. That’s a pretty impressive win against one of the best teams in the NHL. The Predators have been collecting points even when they aren’t winning in regulation, and that’s kept them competitive in the Central Division.
Nashville has scored 43 goals and allowed 45 through 15 games. That’s 2.87 scored and three allowed per night. Those numbers aren’t spectacular, but the Predators have been finding ways to stay in games. Against Carolina, they did a good job limiting scoring opportunities and took advantage of their chances.
The challenge Thursday is dealing with Colorado’s offense. The Avalanche might have scored only two against Columbus, but that doesn’t mean they’ve suddenly forgotten how to score. Nashville needs another disciplined defensive effort, and it can’t afford to give Colorado too many power-play opportunities.

Colorado Avalanche Need to Respond
Colorado is 9-6-1 after losing 7-2 to Columbus on Tuesday. That’s a pretty embarrassing result for a team that had been scoring at one of the highest rates in the league. The Avalanche have put up 59 goals through 16 games, an average of 3.69, so offense hasn’t been the issue.
The problem is that Colorado has also allowed 51 goals, which works out to 3.19 per game. That’s too many for a team with championship expectations. The Avalanche can score enough to cover up defensive mistakes on some nights, but when the offense isn’t clicking, those mistakes become much more noticeable.
Here’s why I still like Colorado. The Avalanche are back at home, and I’d expect a much better effort after getting embarrassed in Columbus. Nashville just beat Carolina, so the Predators aren’t going to be an easy opponent. But Colorado has enough offensive ability to make things difficult, especially if it gets an early goal and forces Nashville to open up.
Nashville Predators vs Colorado Avalanche Picks and Prediction
Moneyline Pick: Colorado Avalanche
I’m taking Colorado. I know the Avalanche just got hammered by Columbus, and that’s not something you can ignore. But I’m not ready to throw away what Colorado has done offensively because of one bad game. The Avalanche are averaging nearly 3.7 goals per night, and they’re back at home against a Nashville team that’s been allowing three per game. The Predators can make this close, especially if they play like they did against Carolina. But I expect Colorado to respond with a much better performance. Give me the Avalanche.
Total Pick: Over 5.5 Goals
I’ll take the over 5.5 if that’s the number. Colorado has been scoring nearly four goals per game, and its defense has been allowing more than three. Nashville just put up four against Carolina, so the Predators aren’t exactly struggling to find the net right now. I can see Colorado scoring four and Nashville contributing a couple. The concern is Nashville turning this into a tight defensive game like it did against Carolina. But I think Colorado pushes the pace at home, and that should create enough chances to get us over.
Final Picks: Colorado Avalanche Moneyline | Over 5.5 Goals (if available)
