Nashville Predators vs Pittsburgh Penguins Picks and Predictions for Saturday October 24 2026
If you’re Nashville, getting shut out 6-0 in Boston is a pretty miserable way to begin a road trip. Then you look at the schedule and see Pittsburgh waiting for you Saturday. The Penguins had been having problems of their own. Four straight losses, plenty of goals allowed, and an injury list that wasn’t getting any shorter. Then they went out Thursday and beat Florida 4-0. Nick Robertson scored twice, and Cooper Black picked up a shutout in his NHL debut. Not a bad evening for a team that badly needed one.
Nashville visits Pittsburgh at PPG Paints Arena on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET. Pittsburgh is favored at approximately -139, with Nashville around +125. The total is 6.5 goals. You can find more games on our free NHL picks page.
Nashville Predators Need To Forget About Boston
Nashville is 3-3-3 after Thursday’s 6-0 loss to the Bruins. The Predators have lost four of their last five, and they weren’t competitive for much of that game. Boston scored twice in every period. Nashville put 28 shots on goal and couldn’t get one past Michael DiPietro. That’s a long night, particularly when you’re trying to get a road trip started on the right foot.
The Predators have scored 23 goals through nine games, an average of 2.56. They had been getting decent work from their special teams, with the power play operating near 30% before the Boston game, but none of that mattered Thursday. Nashville doesn’t generate enough dangerous chances consistently at even strength. When the power play isn’t producing, the offense can disappear for long stretches. Pittsburgh has been generous defensively this season, so there should be opportunities Saturday.

Steven Stamkos entered Thursday with ten points and four goals through eight games. Ryan O’Reilly had scored four goals in his previous five, while Roman Josi had six assists over that stretch. Filip Forsberg remains another forward Pittsburgh has to account for. Juuse Saros has been around a .906 save percentage this season and figures to be important after Justus Annunen allowed six against Boston. Nashville needs its veterans to get involved early instead of waiting until the game gets away.
Pittsburgh Penguins Finally Had Something To Celebrate
Pittsburgh improved to 4-6-1 with Thursday’s 4-0 victory over Florida. The Penguins had lost four straight before that, including games against Washington, Chicago, Colorado and Utah. It was getting ugly. Then Robertson scored twice against the Panthers, and the Penguins finally gave their fans something worth cheering about.
Pittsburgh had allowed 38 goals through its first ten games, which explains why one shutout doesn’t erase every concern. The Penguins have been creating chances, ranking near the top of the league in high-danger shots, but they’ve had trouble keeping the puck out of their own net. Nashville should get looks if Pittsburgh goes back to its earlier defensive habits. Still, the Penguins have been a better offensive team than their record suggests, and the Predators just got worked over by Boston.
Erik Karlsson entered Thursday with 11 points, including ten assists. Evgeni Malkin had five goals through ten games, and Sidney Crosby remains the player opponents worry about whenever Pittsburgh gets a power play. Robertson’s two-goal night was a welcome contribution. Bryan Rust and Samuel Girard have been dealing with injuries, while Ben Kindel, Justin Brazeau, Ryan Graves and Trevor van Riemsdyk have also appeared on the injury list. The Penguins aren’t healthy, but Thursday showed they can still win with the lineup they’ve got.
Nashville Predators vs Pittsburgh Penguins Picks and Predictions
Pittsburgh Penguins Moneyline (-139)
I’ll take Pittsburgh. Nashville should be angry after getting embarrassed in Boston, and that makes the Predators a little dangerous. But Pittsburgh just shut out Florida, has home ice, and has been generating more quality scoring chances than Nashville. I’m not expecting another shutout from the Penguins. I just think Crosby, Malkin and Karlsson give Pittsburgh enough offense to win a game where both teams probably have their chances.
Under 6.5 Goals (-100)
I’m going under 6.5. Nashville scored nothing Thursday, and Pittsburgh just posted a shutout. I wouldn’t expect either result to repeat, but six and a half is a generous number if Saros gets the start and plays well. Pittsburgh’s defensive problems are the obvious concern. The Penguins have given up plenty of goals this season, and Nashville has enough veteran shooters to punish mistakes. I’m calling it Pittsburgh 3, Nashville 2 rather than expecting another wild scoring night.
Final Picks: Pittsburgh Penguins Moneyline (-139) and Under 6.5 Goals (-100)
