New Jersey Devils vs Vegas Golden Knights Picks and Predictions for Friday October 30 2026
New Jersey has won eight games, Vegas has won nine, and both teams can put the puck in the net. So why am I leaning toward the Golden Knights? Because I like what Vegas has been doing at home. Six wins in eight games, four goals a night in its own building, and now it gets a Devils team coming off a pretty rough trip to Colorado. That’s enough to get my attention.
The Devils visit T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Friday, October 30, with puck drop at 6:00 PM ET. That’s an early start for a Vegas home game, so don’t assume it’s the usual late-night hockey. The Golden Knights are sitting around -108 on the moneyline, and the total has moved up to 6.5. I like Vegas to win, although I’m not expecting an easy one. New Jersey Devils Can Make This Interesting
New Jersey is 8-5 after losing 5-2 to Colorado on Wednesday. The Devils had been playing some pretty good hockey before that, winning four straight and seven of their previous ten. They’re 2-2 on the road, which isn’t terrible, but they haven’t been nearly as comfortable away from home. Wednesday was a reminder of what can happen when they run into a team that finishes its chances.
The Devils have been scoring around 3.3 goals a game and allowing 2.9. That’s a decent combination. They’ve also been generating plenty of shots, usually more than 32 a night. The problem is the power play. New Jersey is converting only about 17.5 percent of its chances, and that’s not good enough for a team with this much offensive talent. Vegas has been shaky on the penalty kill, though, so the Devils might get a chance to fix that Friday. If New Jersey can score a couple with the extra man, this could get uncomfortable for the home team.

Seamus Casey is out with a knee injury, but the Devils have been relatively healthy otherwise. That’s helped them keep their lines together and play some pretty consistent hockey. The concern is goaltending. New Jersey has been allowing fewer than three goals a night, but its team save percentage has been below .900. Against a Vegas team that’s been scoring well at home, the Devils can’t afford to give up soft goals. They need their goaltender to steal a couple of chances, not just make the easy saves.
Vegas Golden Knights Have Been Tough at Home
Vegas is 9-4-1, including 6-2 at T-Mobile Arena. The Golden Knights have won six of their last ten, although they’ve had some rough nights mixed in. They’ve been scoring around 3.3 goals and allowing 2.8 over that stretch. That’s not exactly shutdown hockey, but Vegas has been getting enough offense to win. And at home, the Golden Knights have been scoring four goals a game. That’s the number I keep coming back to.
Vegas is averaging about 3.6 goals a game overall and allowing 2.8. The power play has been clicking at better than 25 percent, which gives the Golden Knights a nice advantage against a New Jersey penalty kill that’s been struggling. The other side of that is Vegas hasn’t been killing penalties particularly well either. So if both teams start taking penalties, we could see a few goals with the extra man. I don’t think either coach wants that, but it could happen.
The Golden Knights have some injury concerns. Parker Wotherspoon is out with an upper-body injury, Victor Olofsson is unavailable, and Carter Hart has been day-to-day. That’s worth watching because the goaltending decision could change how this game plays out. Vegas has been getting good enough work in net to win, but New Jersey can create chances. The Golden Knights need to keep the Devils from getting too many clean looks, especially early.
New Jersey Devils vs Vegas Golden Knights Picks and Predictions
Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-108)
I’m taking Vegas. The Devils are good enough to win this game, and I wouldn’t be shocked if they did. They’ve been playing well, and they generate plenty of offense. But the Golden Knights are 6-2 at home, they’re scoring four goals a night there, and New Jersey is coming off a 5-2 loss to Colorado. I also like the Vegas power play against the Devils’ penalty kill. That’s where I think the Golden Knights can find an extra goal. New Jersey could make this a shootout, but I’d rather have Vegas at home in a close one.
Over 6.5 Goals (-114)
I’ll take Over 6.5. Both teams are scoring more than three goals a game, and neither penalty kill has been particularly good. Vegas has been converting better than a quarter of its power plays, while New Jersey has been creating a lot of shots. That’s a decent recipe for goals. The danger is obvious. If both goaltenders have a good night and the teams stay out of the penalty box, six goals might be all we get. But I think there’s enough offense here to push past that number. Something like Vegas 4-3 would do it.
Final Picks: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-108) and Over 6.5 Goals (-114)
