New York Rangers vs Ottawa Senators Picks and Predictions for Saturday October 24 2026
Ottawa beat Florida 5-1 Wednesday, then turned around Thursday and got thumped 6-2 by San Jose. Try figuring out which Senators team you’re getting Saturday. The Rangers aren’t much easier. They went into Toronto Thursday, scored four goals and still lost 5-4. That’s their fourth consecutive road loss. The offense is doing enough to win some games, but the results away from Madison Square Garden haven’t been pretty.
New York visits Ottawa at Canadian Tire Centre in Kanata, Ontario, on Saturday, October 24, 2026. Puck drop is at 7:00 PM ET. The Senators are favored around -127, with the Rangers at +117. Check our free NHL picks for more hockey predictions.
New York Rangers Need To Figure Out The Road
The Rangers are 7-4-1, but only 1-4-1 away from home. Thursday’s 5-4 loss in Toronto was another frustrating one. New York had enough offense to stay in the game, only to watch Troy Stecher score the winner late. Four goals usually give you a chance. The Rangers have to be getting tired of coming home with nothing after nights like that.
New York has scored 37 goals in 12 games, an average of 3.08. That’s respectable offense. The Rangers have also been fairly good at limiting goals overall, although Thursday wasn’t their finest defensive effort. The bigger issue Saturday is the goaltending situation. When your top two options are unavailable, even a decent defensive team can find itself in trouble. Ottawa will test whoever gets the start.

Igor Shesterkin is out for the season with a lower-body injury, and Joonas Korpisalo is also sidelined. That leaves New York relying on its remaining goaltenders much earlier than anybody would have wanted. Joseph Veleno, Adam Sykora and Aidan Thompson are also out. The Rangers have enough scoring to compete, but the injuries in net change how I’d look at this game. It’s difficult to trust a road favorite or underdog when you’re not sure what kind of goaltending you’re going to get.
Ottawa Senators Have To Be Better Than They Were Thursday
Ottawa is 7-4-0 after losing 6-2 to San Jose. The Senators had beaten Florida 5-1 the night before, so that was quite a swing. Ottawa actually outshot San Jose 43-28 on Thursday. It didn’t matter. Yaroslav Askarov stopped 41 shots, and the Sharks scored three goals in a little over four minutes during the second period.
The Senators have been good at home, going 4-2-0, and they should have plenty of chances against New York’s depleted goaltending group. Ottawa’s problem Thursday wasn’t getting shots. It was finishing them and keeping San Jose from scoring on the chances it created. The Senators need a cleaner game defensively, especially against a Rangers club that just scored four in Toronto.
Tim Stützle scored his team-leading seventh goal Thursday. Jordan Spence added Ottawa’s other goal, while Samuel Ersson stopped 22 of 26 shots before San Jose added two empty-netters. Linus Ullmark remains out with a lower-body injury, and Thomas Chabot is dealing with an upper-body problem. William Eklund and Kurtis MacDermid are also sidelined. Ottawa has injury concerns of its own, but the Senators still have enough offense to make New York’s goaltending situation a real problem.
New York Rangers vs Ottawa Senators Picks and Predictions
Ottawa Senators Moneyline (-127)
I’m taking Ottawa. The Senators looked lousy against San Jose, but they also put 43 shots on goal. That’s a game where you tip your cap to the opposing goalie and move on. New York has lost four straight on the road and is missing Shesterkin and Korpisalo. Ottawa has its own goaltending concerns, so I’m not pretending this is a sure thing. But at home, with Stützle producing and the Rangers struggling away from New York, I’ll lay the modest price.
Over 5.5 Goals — Price Pending
I like the over if the market offers 5.5 at a reasonable price. The Rangers just gave up five in Toronto, Ottawa allowed six against San Jose, and both clubs have injuries in goal. That’s a decent recipe for offense. The danger is that both coaches spend Friday preaching defense and Saturday turns into a cautious game. I’m still leaning toward a 4-3 Ottawa win. If the posted total is 6.5 instead, I’d be much less interested.
Final Picks: Ottawa Senators Moneyline (-127) and Over 5.5 Goals (price pending)
