Philadelphia Flyers vs Calgary Flames Picks and Prediction for Sunday November 8 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 11/08/2026, 12:05 AM ET

Philadelphia heads to Calgary on Sunday night for a 7 PM ET game against the Flames at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Flyers have been struggling to score, while Calgary has been playing much better hockey over its last ten games. Neither team is exactly a Stanley Cup favorite, but the Flames have been taking care of business at home. Calgary also has Anaheim on Saturday, so this will be its second game in two nights. That’s the one thing that gives me a little pause. Otherwise, I like the Flames here. Get ready for all the hockey action with our free NHL picks.

Philadelphia Flyers Need Somebody to Finish Their Chances

Philadelphia is 4-10-4 after losing 3-2 to the Rangers on Thursday. The Flyers have dropped two straight and four of their last five. They did beat Utah 6-3 on November 1, so the offense is capable of having a good night. But those performances haven’t happened often enough. Philadelphia is also 1-6-1 on the road, which is a pretty ugly number heading into Calgary.

The Flyers have scored only 39 goals through 18 games, averaging 2.17 per night. They’ve allowed around 60, or 3.33 per game. That’s a big difference, and it explains why they’ve been losing so often. Philadelphia hasn’t been generating enough dangerous chances, and the power play hasn’t been particularly dependable. The Flyers need to get more traffic around the net instead of settling for shots that opposing goaltenders can see coming.

The injury situation isn’t helping. Rasmus Ristolainen remains out on defense, while Nikita Grebenkin is unavailable up front. Those absences affect the depth, but the bigger problem is that the healthy lineup hasn’t been scoring enough. Philadelphia has been giving up more than three goals a night, and that means the offense needs to contribute more than two. So far, it hasn’t done that consistently.

Calgary Flames Have Been Better at Home

Calgary is 7-9-1 heading into Saturday’s game against Anaheim. The Flames have won six of their last ten, and they’ve been a much better team at home, where they’re 5-3. They lost 2-1 in overtime to Seattle in their last completed game, but the defensive effort was good enough to get a point. Calgary has been playing tighter hockey lately, and that’s important against a Philadelphia team that hasn’t been scoring much.

The Flames are averaging roughly 2.5 goals per game and allowing about 3.5. Those season numbers aren’t especially impressive, but they’ve allowed only 2.4 goals per game over their last ten outings. That’s a pretty big improvement. Calgary has been getting better results by making opponents work for their scoring chances. The Flames don’t need to score five to beat Philadelphia. Three might be enough.

Calgary has some important injuries to work around. Jonathan Huberdeau and Samuel Honzek are out, while Kevin Bahl and Brennan Othmann have been dealing with availability questions. That’s not ideal, especially with the Flames playing Saturday. But Calgary has been getting enough from its available lineup to win games at home. The question is whether the short turnaround takes something out of the offense.

Philadelphia Flyers vs Calgary Flames Picks and Prediction

Moneyline Pick: Calgary Flames

I’m taking Calgary. The Flyers are 1-6-1 on the road and scoring barely two goals a game. That’s a difficult team to back, even against a Calgary club that’s below .500. The Flames have won six of their last ten and have been much better defensively during that stretch. The back-to-back worries me because tired teams make mistakes, and Philadelphia could take advantage if Calgary starts slowly. But I trust the Flames more at home. Give me Calgary.

Total Pick: Under 6.5 Goals

I’ll take the under 6.5 if that’s the number. Philadelphia is averaging 2.17 goals, and Calgary has been allowing only 2.4 over its last ten games. That makes it difficult to see the Flyers putting up four or five. Calgary’s offense hasn’t been particularly explosive, either. The danger is both defenses reverting to their season-long form and giving up some ugly goals. But I think Calgary tries to keep this controlled, especially after playing Saturday. Something around 3-2 makes sense.

Final Picks: Calgary Flames Moneyline | Under 6.5 Goals (if available)
