Philadelphia’s game plan is to use pace and its young, talented forwards. The preseason featured multiple one-goal games, including a shootout win over New Jersey and a shootout win at Boston, which shows they can win close games. Matvei Michkov and Travis Konecny will push the attack, and Sean Couturier centers the top line. Philadelphia’s injury list includes blue-liners (Ethan Samson, Oliver Bonk, Rasmus Ristolainen) plus Cam York.

Panthers Preview

Florida already showed its strength at home: a 7–0 romp over Tampa Bay in the preseason and then a 3–2 win over Chicago to open the regular season. Sergei Bobrovsky has a 2.00 GAA with a .895 save percentage, and Florida again looks comfortable protecting third-period leads at Amerant Bank Arena. The Panthers’ scoring leaders feature Mackie Samoskevich (2 assists) and A.J. Greer (1 goal).

Florida went 33–15–3 at home last season and just won its home opener; Philadelphia, by contrast, went 13–19–9 on the road last year, and it’s still unknown how the Flyers will come out of the starting gate. Add in the Flyers’ injuries on the blue line and Florida’s ability to forecheck, and shot quality will more than give the home team a win on Thursday.
