The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Philadelphia Flyers at Xfinity Mobile Arena on Tuesday night. The opening faceoff is at 6:00 PM ET on ESPN. Pittsburgh is 6-2-1 after a shootout loss to Columbus, while Philadelphia is 4-3-1 and coming off a 4-3 shootout win over the Islanders. Both clubs are strong at home and on the road. From power plays to puck drops, we’ve got winning NHL picks.
Penguins Preview
Pittsburgh’s been rolling offensively, averaging 3.56 goals per game while converting 33.3 percent on the power play, one of the league’s best marks. Sidney Crosby leads the team with six goals, three with the man advantage, and Evgeni Malkin’s playmaking has been outstanding with 12 assists. The Penguins’ goaltending tandem of Tristan Jarry and Arturs Silovs has been strong, both sporting save percentages above .910 and a combined 2.54 GAA. The penalty kill sits at 77.8 percent, and while that number could improve, the offense has overshadowed any defensive lapses. Pittsburgh’s 4-1 road record shows how well the group performs away from home.
Flyers Preview
Philadelphia’s play at home has been equally impressive at 4-1-0. The Flyers have relied on strong goaltending from Dan Vladar, who has a .932 save percentage and a 1.81 GAA through five starts. Vladar’s performances have helped cover for an offense producing just 2.75 goals per game. Sean Couturier leads with eight points, while Owen Tippett paces the team with five goals. The Flyers’ special teams are a mixed bag: the penalty kill ranks a strong 87.1 percent, but the power play has converted only 16 percent of its chances. If that number doesn’t improve, they’ll have to win low-scoring battles, especially against scoring units like Pittsburgh’s.
Flyers vs Penguins Prediction
Injuries could tilt this one slightly toward Pittsburgh. The Penguins are missing Rickard Rakell and other backup players, but the Flyers’ blue line is banged up with Rasmus Ristolainen, Ethan Samson, and Oliver Bonk all sidelined. That could be a problem against a Penguins team that moves the puck quickly and can exploit mismatches in the defensive zone.

The Penguins’ balanced offense and experience give them a small edge, though Vladar’s form could keep this close into the third period. Expect Pittsburgh to control possession and capitalize on a few defensive breakdowns late. Prediction: Penguins 4, Flyers 2
