San Jose Sharks vs St. Louis Blues Picks and Predictions for Thursday October 8 2026
The San Jose Sharks visit the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center in St. Louis, Missouri, on Thursday, October 8, 2026. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET in the Blues’ home opener. St. Louis returns from a three-game road trip after losing 4-2 in Chicago Tuesday, while San Jose enters another difficult road matchup. The current market has St. Louis around -122 with San Jose +102, while the total is 5.5 goals. Be sure to check out our free NHL picks for more NHL predictions throughout the season.
San Jose Has a Chance to Make This Interesting
San Jose isn’t walking into a matchup against a dominant St. Louis team. The Sharks have produced 2.89 goals per game early in the season, which is enough offense to give them a chance against a Blues club that has struggled defensively.
The problem has been keeping the puck out of their own net. San Jose is allowing 3.85 goals per game, and that creates very little margin for error. Even a decent offensive night can disappear quickly when the defense gives up four.
The Sharks also have injury concerns to navigate. That makes this a difficult road spot, but the near-even moneyline tells us the market doesn’t view St. Louis as anything close to a certainty.

St. Louis Finally Gets Home
The Blues opened the season with three consecutive road games before returning to Enterprise Center for Thursday’s home opener. That matters after a difficult trip that ended with Tuesday’s 4-2 loss in Chicago.
St. Louis has averaged 2.33 goals while allowing 3.33, so there isn’t much in the early numbers that inspires confidence. The Blues have struggled to create enough offense to compensate when their defense breaks down.
Home ice may be the difference. St. Louis doesn’t need to be dramatically better than San Jose to justify a play around -120. Against a Sharks team allowing nearly four goals per game, the Blues should have enough opportunities to finally generate more offense.
San Jose Sharks vs St. Louis Blues Picks and Predictions
Pick: St. Louis Blues Moneyline (-122)
I’ll back St. Louis in its home opener. The Blues haven’t started particularly well, but San Jose is allowing 3.85 goals per game and enters with several injury concerns. This isn’t a spot where I’d lay a heavy price, but around -120 is reasonable. After opening with three road games, returning to Enterprise Center gives St. Louis the small edge in an otherwise competitive matchup.
Pick: Over 5.5 Goals
The Over 5.5 is the total pick. San Jose is allowing nearly four goals per game, while St. Louis is surrendering 3.33. Neither defensive profile is strong enough to make me comfortable backing a low-scoring game. A 4-2 result gets us home, and something closer to 4-3 wouldn’t be surprising given the Sharks’ early defensive numbers.
Final Picks: St. Louis Blues Moneyline (-122) and Over 5.5 Goals
