Seattle Kraken vs Calgary Flames Picks and Predictions for Friday October 30 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/30/2026, 12:50 AM ET

Calgary has been winning at home lately, and I know that’s going to tempt some people into taking the Flames. Four straight wins at the Saddledome is nothing to laugh at. But then you look at what Seattle has done to Calgary this season. Two games, two 6-1 wins. That’s 12 goals for the Kraken and two for the Flames. I’m supposed to forget that because Calgary has been playing better at home? I’m not buying it.

Seattle heads to Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Friday night for an 8:00 PM ET puck drop. The Kraken have been the better team overall, although Calgary has made its home rink a tougher place to visit recently. I like Seattle to win this one, and I’m looking at the Over if the total is 6.5. Be prepared for all the NHL action with our free NHL picks.

Seattle Kraken Have Had Calgary’s Number

Seattle is 8-4-1, including a 6-3-1 record over its last ten games. The Kraken have been scoring plenty, and their two meetings with Calgary are a big reason I’m leaning their way again. Both finished 6-1. That’s not a couple of lucky overtime wins. Seattle got ahead, kept creating chances and made Calgary chase the game. The Kraken did lose 5-1 to Minnesota last Saturday, so they aren’t exactly unbeatable. But their overall body of work has been better than Calgary’s.

Seattle has scored 48 goals in 13 games, nearly 3.7 a night. The problem is the other end. The Kraken have allowed 46, which is more than I’d like from a team I’m backing on the road. They also give up about 31 shots a game, so there’s a real chance Calgary gets opportunities. Still, Seattle’s offense has been producing, and the Flames are allowing 3.75 goals a game. That’s the matchup I like. Calgary can make this interesting, but the Kraken have already shown they know how to get through this defense.

Seattle is missing Jared McCann with a lower-body injury, and that’s a significant loss to the offense. Ryan Lindgren is also out with an upper-body problem, while Jacob Melanson and Jake O’Brien remain unavailable. Those absences matter, especially when you’re trying to protect a lead on the road. But Seattle has been scoring without a full lineup, and I don’t see Calgary suddenly turning into a shutdown defensive team. The Kraken just need to avoid giving the Flames too many power-play chances.

Calgary Flames Have Been Better at Home

Calgary is 5-7, and the Flames have been a different team at home lately. They’ve won four straight at the Saddledome, which is the best argument for taking them Friday. They haven’t been blowing teams out, but they’ve been finding ways to win close games. The problem is what happened Wednesday in Edmonton. Calgary got shut out, and that offense has been unreliable all season. A team that struggles to score can’t afford many defensive mistakes against Seattle.

The Flames are averaging only 2.33 goals a game and giving up 3.75. That’s a pretty rough combination. Their power play has been good, converting around 29 percent, and that’s one area where they might have an advantage. Seattle’s penalty kill has been struggling, so Calgary could get a goal or two with the extra man. But at even strength, I don’t trust the Flames to keep up. They’ve already been outscored 12-2 by the Kraken, and they haven’t shown enough offensive consistency to make me think Friday will be much different.

Calgary is missing Jonathan Huberdeau with a hip injury and Samuel Honzek with a lower-body problem. Devin Cooley has been dealing with a lower-body injury, and his status is worth checking because the Flames have been getting much better goaltending when he’s available. Brennan Othmann is also day-to-day. If Cooley can’t go, I like Seattle even more. Calgary needs strong goaltending to make up for its lack of scoring, and the wrong matchup in net could turn this into another long night.

Seattle Kraken vs Calgary Flames Picks and Predictions

Seattle Kraken Moneyline

I’m taking Seattle. Calgary’s home winning streak is the one thing that makes me hesitate, but I can’t ignore two 6-1 games between these clubs. The Kraken have been scoring nearly 3.7 goals a night, and Calgary is giving up almost four. That’s a bad combination for the Flames. Seattle isn’t great defensively either, so I wouldn’t be shocked if Calgary scores three or four. But I trust the Kraken to create more chances and finish them. If Seattle gets ahead early, Calgary could be in trouble. Give me the Kraken on the moneyline.

Over 6.5 Goals — Target Total

I’m looking at Over 6.5. Seattle has been involved in some high-scoring games, and Calgary has been giving up plenty. The first two meetings both finished with seven goals, and I don’t see a strong reason to expect a defensive battle this time. Calgary’s power play could help the Over, especially against Seattle’s struggling penalty kill. The danger is Calgary’s offense going cold again, like it did against Edmonton. If the Flames score only one, we’re asking Seattle to do almost all the work. But I think Calgary gets a couple at home, and Seattle can do the rest. Something around 5-2 Kraken sounds reasonable.

Final Picks: Seattle Kraken Moneyline and Over 6.5 Goals (target total)
