St. Louis Blues vs Chicago Blackhawks Picks and Predictions for Tuesday October 6 2026
The St. Louis Blues visit the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, with puck drop scheduled for 8:00 PM ET. Chicago is still looking for its first win after an ugly 6-0 opening loss to Utah and a much more competitive 4-3 defeat at Buffalo on Saturday. The Blackhawks at least found their offense in Game 2, but they’ve already allowed 10 goals in two games. Be sure to check out our free NHL picks for more NHL predictions throughout the season.
St. Louis Gets an Appealing Matchup
There are going to be tougher road assignments than this one. Chicago has allowed six goals to Utah and four more to Buffalo, and the Blackhawks have yet to show that they can consistently keep opponents away from dangerous scoring areas.
For St. Louis, that means patience should be enough. The Blues don’t need to chase offense or turn this into the type of wide-open game Chicago would probably prefer. If they spend enough time in the offensive zone, the opportunities should eventually appear.
The important thing is respecting the improvement Chicago showed Saturday. The Blackhawks scored three times after being shut out in their opener, so this isn’t a matchup where St. Louis can simply show up and expect two points.

Chicago Showed Some Life in Buffalo
The opening 6-0 loss to Utah was about as bad as Chicago could have imagined. Saturday was better. The Blackhawks scored three times in Buffalo and remained competitive before ultimately losing 4-3.
That’s progress, but the defensive problem hasn’t gone anywhere. Ten goals allowed in two games puts enormous pressure on the offense, and Chicago isn’t built to consistently win games where it needs four or five goals.
The Blackhawks need Tuesday to look more like a controlled hockey game than their first two. If they can keep St. Louis around two or three goals, they’ll have a chance. Another night with repeated defensive breakdowns will make that extremely difficult.
St. Louis Blues vs Chicago Blackhawks Picks and Predictions
Pick: St. Louis Blues Moneyline
St. Louis is the side pick. Chicago deserves some credit for the response in Buffalo, but allowing 10 goals through two games is enough for me to oppose the Blackhawks until they show some defensive stability. The Blues don’t need a huge offensive performance here. A composed road game should create enough opportunities to get the job done.
Pick: Over 6 Goals
Unlike the first matchup, I’m going Over here. Chicago has already allowed 10 goals and finally showed some offensive life by scoring three in Buffalo. That creates a much better environment for an Over because we don’t necessarily need St. Louis to do all the work. Something in the 4-3 range is realistic.
Final Picks: St. Louis Blues Moneyline and Over 6 Goals
