Sunday presents a much more difficult situation. Utah has to play Columbus Saturday and then travel into Madison Square Garden. Early-season legs shouldn’t be a major issue yet, but playing consecutive games while New York rests gives the Rangers a meaningful situational advantage.
Rangers Start Strong at Both Ends
New York’s first two performances have been difficult to ignore. The Rangers scored five times in a 5-1 win over Tampa Bay and then showed they could win a completely different type of game by shutting Detroit out 2-0.
That combination is encouraging. New York has scored seven goals through its first two games while allowing only one. It’s far too early to draw season-long conclusions from those numbers, but the Rangers have been sharp at both ends.
The home setting matters as well. Utah is a dangerous opponent and already demonstrated that with its opening-night rout, but New York has the rest advantage and doesn’t need to travel between Saturday and Sunday.

This isn’t a pick against Utah as much as it is a favorable situation for New York. The Rangers have opened with consecutive wins and have allowed only one goal through two games. With New York rested and playing at Madison Square Garden, I’ll back the Rangers on the moneyline.
