Utah Mammoth vs Seattle Kraken Picks and Predictions for Thursday October 22 2026
I wonder what Seattle’s coach said after Tuesday’s game. The Kraken were up 3-0 against Detroit, had the crowd feeling pretty good, and then somehow ended up in a shootout. They didn’t get a shot on goal over the last 14 and a half minutes of regulation. Not one. Detroit tied it with 17 seconds left, and Seattle had to win the thing in a shootout. That’s a hard way to earn two points.
Utah had its own adventure in Pittsburgh on Monday. The Mammoth scored five, gave up four, and needed a save with three seconds left to hang on. Both teams won, but I doubt either coach was thrilled with everything he saw.
The Mammoth head to Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Puck drop is at 10:00 PM ET. Utah is favored on the road, with Seattle available at plus money and the total sitting at 6.5 goals. ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+ have the broadcast. ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+ have the broadcast. Utah Mammoth Have Some Scoring Punch
Utah is 7-3-0, and the Mammoth have won four of their last five. Monday’s 5-4 win in Pittsburgh was entertaining, although probably a little too entertaining if you were cheering for Utah. Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz, Kevin Stenlund, Nate Schmidt, and Kailer Yamamoto all scored. Five different players finding the net is pretty good stuff. But Pittsburgh kept coming, and Sebastian Cossa had to make a big save with three seconds left. Utah got the win. Barely.

The Mammoth have been scoring enough to win games, and they’ve got some players who can really handle the puck. Keller and Schmaltz are dangerous together, and Utah has been getting goals from other lines too. The defense is another story. Giving up four goals to Pittsburgh isn’t something you want to make a habit of, especially with Seattle scoring almost four a night. The Kraken have enough depth to take advantage if Utah starts leaving people open around the net.
Keller and Schmaltz each had a goal and an assist against Pittsburgh. Stenlund and Schmidt also had two-point nights, and Yamamoto scored another. Cossa finished with 15 saves, including the one that mattered most. Karel Vejmelka has been getting most of the work in goal, but his .879 save percentage is a concern. John Marino has been dealing with an upper-body injury, and Michael Carcone is out week-to-week. Utah has enough offense to win Thursday, but somebody has to keep Seattle from getting easy chances.
Seattle Kraken Need To Finish What They Start
Seattle is 6-3-1 after that 4-3 shootout win over Detroit. The Kraken had a three-goal lead and nearly threw it away. Mackie Samoskevich scored in the first, Ryker Evans got one on the power play, and Brandon Montour made it 3-0 in the second. Then Seattle went quiet. Detroit scored three times in the third, and the Kraken were lucky to get to overtime. They eventually won the shootout, but that wasn’t a game you’d want to show somebody as an example of protecting a lead.
Seattle is averaging 3.78 goals per game, and the offense has been a pleasant surprise. The Kraken have been getting contributions from different lines, which makes them difficult to defend. Utah has been giving up chances, so Seattle should get opportunities Thursday. But the Kraken can’t spend half the game sitting back and hoping the goalie saves everything. Detroit showed how badly that can go. Utah has more than enough scoring talent to pull off the same kind of comeback.
Samoskevich has four goals, Evans has two, and Montour scored his first against Detroit. Philipp Grubauer made 22 saves and stopped three of four shootout attempts. Frederick Gaudreau and Bobby McMann scored in the shootout, with McMann getting the winner. Seattle has been getting offense from different players, and that’s been a big part of its good start. The Kraken just need to keep playing the same way when they’re ahead.
Utah Mammoth vs Seattle Kraken Picks and Predictions
Seattle Kraken Moneyline (-137)
Utah is favored on the road, with Seattle available at plus money and the total sitting at 6.5 goals. ESPN+, Hulu, and Disney+ have the broadcast. But the Mammoth have been giving up too many good chances, and Seattle has been scoring almost four goals a game. I like the Kraken’s depth, and I think they have the advantage playing at home. Tuesday’s third period was ugly, no question. If Seattle does that again, Utah will make it pay. I just don’t think the Kraken will be quite so careless two games in a row.
Over 5.5 Goals
Over 5.5 looks good to me. Utah scored five against Pittsburgh and gave up four. Seattle scored three against Detroit, then gave up three in the third period. These teams have been playing some loose hockey, and there are enough good offensive players on both sides to keep that going. A hot goalie could ruin the bet, but I’m not expecting a 2-1 game here. Seattle 4, Utah 3.
Final Picks: Seattle Kraken Moneyline (-137) and Over 5.5 Goals
