Vancouver Canucks vs Florida Panthers Picks and Predictions for Thursday October 15 2026
The Vancouver Canucks head to Sunrise, Florida, on Thursday, October 15, 2026, to face the Florida Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM ET. Vancouver just lost 3-2 to the Islanders, while Florida beat Columbus 7-3 on Tuesday. The Panthers are heavy favorites at around -280, with the total sitting at six goals. I’m taking Florida here. Have you watched Vancouver lately? Five straight losses, and they’ve been giving up goals all over the place. Florida hasn’t been great every night either, but I’d rather have the Panthers coming off a seven-goal game than the Canucks coming off another loss. This one could get ugly if Vancouver keeps playing the same way. Make sure you check out all of our free NHL picks.
Vancouver Canucks Can’t Get Out Of Their Own Way
Vancouver is 2-6 and has lost five straight games. Four of those losses have come on this road trip. The Canucks lost 3-2 to the Islanders on Tuesday, which was actually a pretty decent effort compared with some of their other games. They fell behind 2-0, tied it up, then gave up the winner in the third. Another loss. Before that, the Rangers beat them 6-2, New Jersey won 4-1, and Carolina absolutely hammered them 7-2. That’s 17 goals allowed in three games. Ouch. It’s hard to win hockey games when you’re giving up that many. Vancouver hasn’t been getting much help in net, and the defense has looked lost at times. Now they’re heading to Florida against a team that just scored seven. Wonderful timing.
The Canucks are averaging 3.25 goals per game, which actually isn’t terrible. They’ve scored 26 in eight games. The problem is they’ve allowed 38. That’s 4.75 goals against per game. Four and three-quarters! You can’t keep doing that and expect to win. Vancouver is also allowing more than 31 shots per game, while getting only about 22 of its own. That’s a lot of time spent defending. The power play is clicking at 20%, so there’s at least something positive. But that penalty kill is sitting at 57.1%. Seriously, how do you win with that? Florida’s power play hasn’t been spectacular, but the Panthers should be looking forward to getting a few chances against those numbers. Vancouver needs to stay out of the box. And somebody needs to start making saves.
The Canucks did get 35 saves from their goalie against the Islanders. That helped keep the game close. But the overall goaltending numbers have been rough, with a team save percentage around .850. One good night doesn’t erase the rest. Vancouver also has injuries to deal with. Thatcher Demko is out with a hip problem, Filip Chytil has a shoulder injury, and Jack Thompson and Akil Thomas are unavailable. Those absences hurt, especially in net. The Canucks have enough offense to score a couple of goals against Florida. I wouldn’t be surprised by that. But scoring three doesn’t help much when you’re giving up four or five. That’s been the story of their season so far.

Florida Panthers Finally Got The Offense Going
Florida is 3-2-2 and has been a little hard to figure out. The Panthers lost 5-3 to Buffalo on Monday, then went into Columbus the next night and won 7-3. Seven goals. That’s one way to forget about a loss. Before that, Florida had dropped a 4-1 game to Minnesota and beaten Los Angeles 2-1. So we’re not exactly talking about a team that’s been scoring seven every night. The Panthers have been up and down. But that Columbus game was a pretty nice reminder of what this offense can do when everything starts clicking. Now they get a Vancouver defense that’s been allowing almost five goals per game. You think Florida’s looking forward to that matchup? I do.
The Panthers are averaging 2.71 goals per game and allowing 2.86. They’ve scored 19 goals through seven games, and seven of those came Tuesday. So yeah, the season average doesn’t tell the whole story right now. Florida is getting about 26.9 shots per game and allowing 25. That’s a lot better than Vancouver’s shot numbers. The Panthers’ power play is sitting at 18.4%, and the penalty kill is around 75.9%. Neither is anything special. But compare that with Vancouver’s 57.1% penalty kill, and suddenly Florida’s power play looks pretty interesting. The Panthers have also been better at keeping opponents away from the net. That’s probably the biggest difference here. Vancouver spends too much time chasing the puck. Florida has been much better at making teams work for their chances.
Florida has some serious injuries, so I wouldn’t pretend everything is perfect. Aleksander Barkov is out with a lower-body injury, Brad Marchand has a leg problem, and Jonah Gadjovich is sidelined. Radko Gudas is dealing with an injury as well. The goaltending situation is worth checking before puck drop, with Jacob Markstrom listed as day-to-day. That’s not a small concern. Florida has already had some rough nights in net, and Vancouver can score when it gets opportunities. But the Panthers just put seven goals on Columbus without everybody healthy. They don’t need a perfect lineup to beat the Canucks. I’d be more worried about Florida if Vancouver were coming in playing decent hockey. They’re not. Five straight losses tells you plenty.
Vancouver Canucks vs Florida Panthers Picks and Predictions
Moneyline Pick: Florida Panthers -280
I’m taking Florida on the moneyline. Now, am I excited about laying -280? Absolutely not. That’s an expensive favorite. But Vancouver has lost five straight and is allowing 4.75 goals per game. Florida just scored seven against Columbus. You really want to bet on the Canucks turning things around here? I don’t. The Panthers have some injuries, and their goaltending could make this closer than it should be. That’s the part I’d worry about. Vancouver has scored 26 goals in eight games, so the offense isn’t completely useless. But that defense is a mess, and the penalty kill is even worse. Florida should get plenty of chances. I think the Panthers win this one. The price isn’t pretty, but they’re my moneyline pick.
Total Pick: Over 6 Goals
Give me Over 6 goals. Vancouver is allowing nearly five goals a game. Florida just scored seven. Do we really need to make this complicated? The Canucks have given up 38 goals in eight games, and their penalty kill is barely stopping anybody. Florida should be able to score three or four, maybe more. The Panthers have also been giving up some goals lately. Buffalo scored five against them Monday, and Columbus got three Tuesday. Vancouver averages 3.25 goals, so I don’t think the Canucks are necessarily getting shut out. The concern is Florida tightening up defensively and winning something like 4-1. That could happen. And with the total at six, a six-goal finish would only push rather than win. But I think Vancouver gets a couple, and Florida does most of the damage. Something like 5-2 Panthers sounds about right. I’ll take Over 6.
Final Picks: Florida Panthers Moneyline -280 and Over 6 Goals.
