Vegas Golden Knights vs St. Louis Blues Picks and Predictions for Thursday October 22 2026
Six goals. That’s what Tampa Bay hung on Vegas Tuesday night. And the funny thing is, the Golden Knights had been playing some pretty good hockey before that. They’d won three straight, were scoring plenty, and looked like they had things under control. Then the Lightning showed up and beat them 6-2. Carter Hart probably wanted to forget that one before he even got out of his equipment.
St. Louis had a much better night. The Blues beat Winnipeg 2-1, and Joel Hofer was the main reason. He stopped 32 shots, Philip Broberg scored the winner in the third, and the Blues got themselves back in the win column. Now they get Vegas, which isn’t exactly the team I’d want coming into town after getting embarrassed.
The Golden Knights visit Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Puck drop is at 8:00 PM ET. Vegas is around -125 on the moneyline, St. Louis is +125, and the total is 6.5 goals. Be sure to check out our free NHL picks for more predictions.
Vegas Golden Knights Have Some Things To Clean Up
Vegas is 8-3-0, so nobody needs to start sounding the alarm just yet. The Golden Knights had won three straight before Tampa Bay came to town, including games where they scored six against Calgary and Pittsburgh. They’ve been putting the puck in the net. Tuesday was a different story. The game was tied 2-2 after the first period, and then Tampa scored three in the second. That was pretty much it. Vegas never got back into it.

What bothered me about that game wasn’t just the six goals. It was how easily Tampa Bay got some of its chances. Vegas has enough talent that it shouldn’t be giving opponents that much room. The Golden Knights are a lot better when they’re controlling the puck, keeping their forwards involved, and making the other team defend. St. Louis isn’t going to score like Tampa Bay every night, but the Blues have enough skill to take advantage if Vegas plays that loosely again.
Jack Eichel and Mitch Marner give Vegas two guys who can create offense almost whenever they want. Mark Stone has been producing too, including a shorthanded goal against Tampa Bay. That was his second shorthanded goal of the season. Ivan Barbashev also scored Tuesday, with Marner helping set it up. The Knights are still dealing with some injuries. Alex Pietrangelo has been out with his hip problem, and Victor Olofsson has been on the injury report. Those absences hurt, but Vegas has enough good players that I’m not making excuses for them.
St. Louis Blues Got A Much Needed Win
The Blues had lost two straight before beating Winnipeg 2-1 Tuesday. Jimmy Snuggerud scored in the first period, and St. Louis held that lead until Cole Perfetti tied it early in the third. Broberg answered on the power play, and Hofer took care of the rest. Pretty simple. The Blues didn’t score a bunch, but they played well enough defensively to win. That’s been their better formula lately.
I don’t think St. Louis wants to get into a wide-open game with Vegas. Why would they? The Golden Knights have too many dangerous forwards, and the Blues aren’t built to trade four or five goals with them. St. Louis needs to make this ugly. Slow things down, get bodies in front of the net, and hope Hofer has another good night. Winnipeg only managed one goal Tuesday, but the Jets have been struggling offensively. Vegas is going to be a much tougher test.
Broberg had himself a game against Winnipeg. A goal, an assist, six shots, and almost 24 minutes on the ice. That’s a lot of work for a defenseman. Robert Thomas helped set up the winning goal, and Snuggerud got things started with his first-period tally. Hofer stopped 32 of 33 shots, which is about all you can ask from your goalie. St. Louis has been working through some injuries, including Ross Johnston going on injured reserve. Otto Stenberg and Aleksanteri Kaskimaki have been called up, so the Blues are leaning on some younger players to fill out the lineup.
Vegas Golden Knights vs St. Louis Blues Picks and Predictions
Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-125)
Give me Vegas. I know they got hammered by Tampa Bay, but they’re still 8-3, and I’m not going to pretend that one bad night changes everything. Eichel, Marner, and Stone are a handful, and St. Louis doesn’t have that kind of scoring depth. Hofer worries me a little after what he did against Winnipeg. If he’s seeing the puck well, the Blues can absolutely steal this. But I think Vegas comes out with a better effort, and I expect its forwards to make Hofer work a lot harder than Winnipeg did. I’ll lay the -125.
Over 6.5 Goals
I’m taking the over, although this one makes me a little nervous. St. Louis would love to win another 2-1 game, and Hofer is capable of making that happen. But Vegas has been scoring in bunches, and the Golden Knights have enough offensive talent to get four or five themselves. The Blues should get some chances too, especially if Vegas is still making the defensive mistakes we saw Tuesday. I don’t expect another six-goal disaster for the Knights, but I do think they’ll push the pace. Vegas 5, St. Louis 3.
Final Picks: Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (-125) and Over 6.5 Goals (price dependent)
