Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Picks and Predictions for Tuesday October 20 2026

By: Kim Smith Published 10/20/2026, 12:30 AM ET

Winnipeg had a rough Friday night against Carolina. The Jets were outshot 37-23, lost 3-2, and spent too much of the game defending. Now they head to St. Louis, where the Blues have had their own problems keeping opponents off the scoreboard. Somebody needs to clean things up. I trust Winnipeg a little more to do it.

The Jets visit Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Puck drop is at 8:00 PM ET. The reference total is 6.5 goals. Check out our free NHL picks for more predictions.

Winnipeg Needs More Time In The Other End

Winnipeg is 4-2-2, and the Jets have lost two straight. They were right there against Carolina, but being outshot by 14 isn’t a great way to win hockey games. The Jets have dropped three of their last four, although they’ve stayed competitive in those losses. The next step is getting back to spending more time attacking instead of chasing the puck.

Winnipeg’s offense has enough scoring to win games, but the Jets haven’t been generating enough sustained pressure lately. Carolina controlled much of their last outing, including a big edge in shots. The Jets also struggled on faceoffs, which made it harder to get out of their own zone. Against St. Louis, they need to get pucks behind the defense and make the Blues defend for longer stretches.

Winnipeg’s leading goal scorer has eight through eight games. That’s a tremendous start, and it’s helped cover up some of the team’s other problems. The goaltending situation has been complicated by a suspension involving its usual top option, so the Jets have been relying on their other netminders. They got 34 saves in the loss to Carolina, which kept that game close. They’ll need another decent night in goal Tuesday.

St. Louis Has Been Hard To Figure Out

The Blues are 3-3-1. They’ve had a few good performances, including a seven-goal game against Ottawa, but they haven’t been able to keep that offense going every night. St. Louis lost 5-4 to Minnesota and then fell to Nashville over the weekend. The Blues have been competitive, but that’s not much consolation when the points keep getting away.

St. Louis has shown it can score, but the defensive coverage has been uneven. Minnesota put five on the board, and the Blues had to scramble late just to make it a one-goal game. St. Louis has also been hurt by special-teams mistakes. Against Winnipeg, the Blues need to avoid handing out power-play chances and get more from their own opportunities.

The Blues have gotten production from several lines, including a forward who scored three goals over a two-game stretch last week. But the team still needs more consistency from its goaltending and defensive group. St. Louis has been too willing to trade chances, and that’s dangerous against a Winnipeg club that has enough finishers to punish mistakes.

Winnipeg Jets vs St. Louis Blues Picks and Predictions

Winnipeg Jets Moneyline

I’ll take Winnipeg. The Jets haven’t been playing their best hockey, and that Carolina game was a reminder of how bad things can get when they lose the shot battle. But St. Louis has been giving up too many chances and hasn’t looked particularly sharp on special teams. Winnipeg has more reliable scoring at the top of its lineup, and I think the Jets can get enough offense to win. I’d want a reasonable price, though. This isn’t a matchup where I’d be laying a huge number.

Under 6.5 Goals

I’m taking the under 6.5. Winnipeg’s last game finished 3-2, and the Jets need to get back to playing a tighter game after getting pushed around by Carolina. St. Louis can score, but the Blues haven’t been consistent enough to make me expect four or five goals. The worry is a couple of early power-play goals opening things up. Still, I think Winnipeg tries to keep this under control. A 3-2 or 4-2 finish looks more likely than a wild shootout.
