We should see some high quality pitching on Friday, at Cincinnati. Skenes is still an elite pitcher, much better than his numbers suggest. His expected ERA is significantly lower than his actual ERA. Skenes struggled last time out but his previous three starts were strong. In those games, he allowed five total runs in 18 1/3 innings, two or less in each start. As for the last game, Skenes was cruising through the first four innings but ran into some trouble in the fifth. Then, the bullpen came in the sixth and allowed both of Skenes' baserunners to come in. A closer look shows that he had 11 K's. So, his stuff was still great. Skenes has enjoyed plenty of success against Cincinnati, going 5-0 with a 1.38 ERA in seven career starts. Greene is also better than his stats. In fact, Greene, who has a 2.57 ERA in nine starts vs. Pittsburgh, has the potential to match Skenes pitch for pitch. This may be his last start as a Red and he's going to want to make it a good one.
