The PLAY: Kasparas Jakucionis (MIA) Over 9.5 Points at New Orleans
The Heat are dealing with a plethora of injuries heading into the all-star break including Tyler Herro, Norman Powell and Pelle Larsson who are all out and Andrew Wiggins who is questionable. They’ll make the short trip to New Orleans to take on a Pelicans team that has allowed the most points per game to shooting guards so far on the season. With that we’re going to take backup rookie guard Kasparas Jakucionis to go over 9.5 points after scoring 22 at Washington last Sunday and 20 against Utah on Monday. He shot 15-22 including 12-16 from three-point range combined in those matchups as he should see 25+ minutes again tonight with Miami’s injuries. This is the biggest opportunity Jakucionis has had to showcase his talents scoring in double figures just three other times this season. Jakucionis will likely come off the bench in which the Pelicans have allowed a few bench guards to blow past this number as of late including Bones Hyland of the Timberwolves (20), Kevin Porter Jr. of Milwaukee (18) and even Devin Carter of the Kings (12). In their other head-to-head meeting earlier this season Larsson and Powell combined to score 50 points and with those two listed out offense is going to have to come from somewhere if Miami wants to close out the first half strong. So let’s go with Jakucionis to keep his hot streak alive going over 9.5 points tonight in New Orleans.
