The PLAY: Vancouver Canucks +1.5 (105)
Well, this didn’t figure, but it’s hats off to the Canucks for continuing to play hard in the final week of what has been a disastrous season in Vancouver.
Some of those teams that tanked their way down the stretch in the NBA might learn a thing or two from the Canucks, who have recorded three straight 4-3 wins on the road, all in OT or shootouts, into tonight’s finale at Edmonton. Those wins either damaged playoff hopes or seeding prospects for the Sharks, Ducks, and Kings, all trying in those games. Goalie Nikita Tolopilo (likely to start tonight) got the win at Anaheim on Sunday, while winger Jake DeBrusk is closing the season with a rush, scoring goals (four total) in the last three games.
The host Oilers are securely into the playoffs, though they need at least one point to assure home ice over the Ducks or Kings in their first-round matchup. Yet Edmonton has flattened since securing a postseason berth, with just one win in five, and the offense generating just one goal in the last two games combined (losses to the Kings and Avs). As Vancouver has gone OT or shootouts so often lately, we'll stick with Puck Line and the Canucks at +105, though we'd still like Vancouver getting the 1.5 goals up to -110. Play Canucks on Puck Line
