The PLAY: Detroit Tigers -134 Framber Valdez (LHP), Andrew Abbott (LHP) Must Start
The Reds have the better record but the Tigers are scoring more runs and allowing less. Friday's pitching matchup should favor Detroit, Valdez has made five starts. One of them was bad and that hurt his overall numbers. Yet, he was excellent in the other four, including each of the past two. Last time out, he allowed one run in six innings. In his previous start, he allowed two runs through seven innings. On the season, even factoring in the rough outing on 4/8, he's 2-1 with a solid 3.30 ERA and 1.20 WHIP. We saw what Abbott did (10-7, 2.87 ERA, 1.15 WHIP) last season. However, we haven't seen that pitcher this month. In four April starts, he's 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA and a 1.88 WHIP. He's been particularly bad at home. Off b2b wins, the Tigers make it three in a row. *Good at -140 or better
