| CBB | (871) Merrimack at (872) Canisius: Spread | 7:00pm EST - Feb 27/2026 |
The PLAY: Canisius +10.5 (-118)
Admittedly, this is pretty gross. But it's a good spot to fade Merrimack, who has already wrapped up the MAAC regular season title by virtue of Sunday's 2OT win vs. Iona. That was actually the Warriors' second straight game that went to OT. (At home, they had to rally to beat Siena last Friday). There is absolutely nothing left for them to play for between now and the MAAC Tournament.
Canisius won't be involved in the MAAC Tournament as the bottom three teams in this league do not qualify. However, it's a chance for the Golden Griffins to at least make a statement (in front of the home fans) against a first place team. As you might expect, Canisius has been far more competitive at home this season. They've lost six in a row here but five of those have been by 10 points or fewer (four by six or less).
Simply put, Merrimack has been one of the luckiest teams in the country this season (#5 in KenPom Luck Rankings). Sunday finally saw a 7-game ATS win streak come to an end (I had Iona +7.5!) You have to wonder what the Warriors' motivation level will be after winning two overtime games and having the MAAC regular season title already wrapped up. Each of the L2 days in CBB we've seen a regular season champ fall flat (ETSU lost outright to Wofford, North Dakota St got blown out by St. Thomas). Take the points.
